I have a room with built in bookshelves in the rear of the room. I'm contemplation using supersat 50c's for the rear channels and placing them on top of the shelves, about 8 feet up. Would this be a mistake? Should I vertically mount some supersat 50's instead?

Will be pairing with a pair of triton twos, supercenter XL, and supersat 50's for surrounds.

Hi John,
I don't know anything about your room nor budget, but just a quick suggestion here:
What about you get some Aon 3s or even Aon 2s for surrounds and move the Supersat 50s to the back shelves for
back surrounds?
That is what I would do to take your great system up a notch to AWESOME!!!!
Just a thought,
whatever you do, you will have a great system, enjoy it!!!!
God Bless,
Wayne

Thanks Wayne, unfortunately I will have to wall mount the surround channels. I've been waiting(saving) for years to finally have this speaker system. My biggest concern is wether using centers for the surround back channels will be right. The top of the shelf is only about 6 inches down from the ceiling so I plan on pointing them slightly downward. If that's the wrong application, I'll use vertical supersat 50s and probably ceiling mount them in the right position. I chose the 50's because my room is 18wx27dx8.5'h, roughly 3,000 cubic feet.

With that said, I am really excited I will finally have a Goldenear triton cinema. I'm pretty sure it's going to sound great no matter what I get.

The 50C may not be the perfect choice for rear surrounds but they will work. A better choice may be the Supersat 3. Wayne recommended the Aon 3's or Aon 2's...great speakers and they are wall mountable.
D-Sonic m3a-600m Mono > McIntosh MC152 > Primaluna ProLogue Premium Preamp > Oppo UDP205 > Decware ZLC > Triton Reference > Isoacoustics Gaia 2 > Canare 4S11 Speaker Cables > Audience Forte 3, Anticable L3 & Shunyata Venom PC's

Every great performance deserves an Audience!

They'll be fine in that application. Sideways is correct orientation for 50C's and mounted high for surrounds and rears is preferred by many. Rears should have their centers no more than six feet apart. I use SuperSat 50's for surrounds in a 7.1 system, mounted as close to the ceiling as possible on the side walls. Sounds great.

Just reading this thread as I will install 2 x 50c's as back surrounds high up near the ceiling. I have large bass panels on the rear wall so the 50c's will be installed horizontally above the panels. I noticed GE sell "super swivels" to angle down the 50c's towards the listener. Anybody use these or do you mount them flush to the wall?
