We're on it, but I wouldn't wait ... no final decisions or timetable yet.

Great stuff. Hopefully with a mini version of the HVRT! I'll be happy to be on the beta testing squad :-)

Great suggestion, Em84!!! Ditto for me!!!

Best bang for the buck can be found in the HiFiMan HE400S Over-Ear Planar Magnetic Headphones. I have auditioned so many headphones it hurts. This is one of the best sounding, open airy, other-worldly headphones I have heard (and their more expensive headphones sound even better but are more difficult to drive)

These are the first Planar Magnetic headphones that can be driven by your average cell phone. Relatively efficient. I pair mine for work and on the road with the DragonFly Red DAC/Amp which has gotten so efficient that when coupled with an iPhone or Android it bearly sips at all on the battery.

Be aware though on one issue. If you listen to them from a store....make sure they have about ....oh....80 - 100 hours on them for break in. I have never heard a bigger transition from "Out of the box" to "broken in" on any speaker more than this. TIP: If you get them, buy the leather (not plush) ear cups as it REALLY helps with the bass on this...really changes them to the next level of headphone. $299.00 for the phones and @200.00 for the Dragonfly Red DAC/Amp. Get the Dragon Tail that matches your iPhone or Android input...its about 25 bucks. You will literally have amazing sound anywhere.

There are plenty of reviews out there. Some calling it the groundbreaking headphone for the price point. Makes sense as their $3000.00 top of the line units are arguably one of the best sounding headphones for any price. Trickle down works as we know from Golden Ear products.

Am I the only one that noticed the "closed back first" piece? Sounds like multiple models? Any chance of a noise cancelling model or just noise blocking? This may be a bridge too far, but since we are talking future products and making some rare progress... ;) Thanks Moderator Dude!

Thanks Roman. I tried these this week. Great sound, great bass and sensational mid range but the treble didn't do enough for me :-(
Again, I'm comparing to the detail of the Tritons which is no easy task for any speaker, let alone headphones

After more testing I went with the Sennheiser HD800-S and a Chord Mojo. The Mojo did a respectable job powering these cans but the plan is to add a HPA when funds allow, to bring out the best in them.

I love these Sennheiser's because they are huge and go around my ears - and I have big ears !

I've had planar's before in the form of the Oppo PM-1. Anything that presses on my ears, even if it's soft lamb skin like the PM-1's, starts to bother my ears after 20minutes.

I tested these HD-800S's for a good hour in the shop with all my music and while it's not the Triton experience (hopefully that's coming.....) I do get more of the treble details than I've gotten with other cans I've trialled, and my big ears get the comfort they need.

Since we're all asking for our personal preferences here, I might as well chime in - can GET please at least copy the size and comfort of the Sennheiser HD800-S cups, for the sake of my big ears lol. As for the rest of the cans, can you please bring the Triton sound, especially the HVRT sound, to any future cans. Not a big ask is it? :P ;)

I second the notion on the large ear cups. I suffer the same issues and that's likely what I do not like ear phones. They are too hot and uncomfortable. Larger cups may do the trick. Maybe I'll give the Sennheiser model a try.

Hey, T Cobe

I chimed in, loving a closed back version. I know there are trade-offs in terms of SQ, stage depth, etc. between open and closed.... but for my intended use, closed back works best. As for noise cancellation, I'd vote for it as an option, as long as it doesn't degrade SQ. I've had no trouble listening to closed back non-noise cancelling headphones in a variety of listening environments, just turned the SL level up a tab when needed.

As usual, so many options/preferences!!!! Whatever comes out from GEt as their headphone, I'm trying it!!

Happy listening!

Rick
