I just bought the BRX speakers and plan to use them as surround speakers.
What I cannot find in the manual is the recommended crossover frequency.

Do you know what GE recommends?

Hi

The BRX's should make great surround speakers! The Aon's are impressive and often used as surround speakers. I haven't heard the BRX's, but with upgraded Ref technology and drivers, they must be even a step above that for sound quality.

My sense is that, being in the Aon/bookshelf family, with upgraded components, a similar crossover somewhere in the 80 Hz range might be a good starting point.

Congratulations on the BRX, you're going to love them. You didn't mention what you are using for the front stage? Curious is all. I usually recommend running your set-up to render the system and see where the receiver or front end equipment sets it. To Ricks point, 80 is a great starting point, low enough that you won't localize, and high enough you will not over exert the woofer with low bass that they really don't need to be driving. I wouldn't take them below 60 in a rear channel application (simply no need).

I am using triton refs as front and SuperCenter Ref as center.
Currently, no additional sub because the tritons are bi amped.

By bi amped are you referring to the fact you have LFE connections also, or that the bass drivers have their own internal amp? In a sense powered Tritons are always "bi amped", because the active bass drivers, with their internal amps, are similar to what 100% passive speakers with bi amp connections can achieve with separate leads for bass drivers and separate external amps.

I guess either analogy is correct. Powered Tritons are easy to drive. They just need good feeds.
