What is the opinion of using triton 1's as rear speakers as well as front speakers? Is this over-kill, or will this be a better matched sound for 5.1 music?

Anyone use the Triton 2's are rears and how do you like your setup?

Thanks,

Mark

Sure, why not? If you've got the space and the budget, let the fun ensue!

We will be using Triton Twos as rears in a 5.1.4 Atmos theater demo at our upcoming CEDIA trade show event. I'm sure there will be plenty of press about it.

My interest is not so much a budget or space question as it is a question of returns? Will one notice a great enhancement tonal-wise using triton 1's or 2's in the rears vs. using a triton 7 / Aon / superstat. In other words, what will give the most amount of pleasure?

I have read where putting the rear's up high is the best, others at ear level; some keep all speakers the same... Is their bass info going into the rears to justify the Triton 1's or 2's? Is the Triton 7's the best rears? This is really the question I am trying to figure out.

I do know I want to use the Triton 1's as my mains. My room is dedicated theater - 18' x 23'

Thanks so much,

Mark

Hello Warr,
Wretched excess!!!! Go for it!!!!!
Seriously, you will love the ones are surrounds, I am sure.
I moved my T3s to my surround speakers (with T2s up front) and they made a big difference.
The added bass in the surround position helped fill in for the sub location and give me a much more immersive surround envelop.
They smoothed out the bass in the room.
The ones are that much taller, I am sure you will NOT want speakers mounted up higher.
Especially if you like surround music as much as I do, concerts and surround SACDS and such.
Try out the TACET recordings that put the listener in the middle of the musicians, AWESOME!!!!
Go for it and tell us how you manage?
Enjoy and God Bless,
Wayne

Thanks Wayne for the info on your setup! Surround music - concerts and SACD's are 90% go my enjoyment.

This is what I am thinking at the moment;
Triton One - Front
Triton One - Rear
SuperCenter XL - Center
Triton Seven - Surrounds
ForceField 5 - 2 in front

I am thinking the XL center is too small for that set up. I have a similar set up (ones arriving today)
And I can already tell you that the XL center is too small for those those towers based on using it with the Triton twos.
It will work, but not a perfect match, especially if you have a large screen.
I hope GE makes a larger powered center at some point to perfectly match the ones. I previously used a Martin Logan stage and it was a 100% better match for the larger towers and dialogue was much deeper and richer because the speaker is much larger.

Fingers crossed, that Sandy makes a huge center at some point now that the ones are a hit !!

Good times, good wine, and great music !!
