I’m curious whether any of you guys have the SuperSub X placed on a side wall rather than on the same wall as your front speakers? I’m curious because the only placement option (pic) I have is on a side wall which seems like it would work well given the subs speaker configuration.

Hi mbroadus

Nice setup!

We all have to adapt our speaker placement some to deal with room conditioners, and of course WAF's. :)

I didn't want your question to sit without a response. Room modes are unique to each room, but a side placement for a SuperSub should work just fine. Bass is fairly non directional, so you still can enjoy the contribution from the sub without it being exactly where you may want to place it.

It looks like you have some room on the side wall to try different positions to hear what best meshes with your room and other speakers,so some speaker position experiments should find a perfectly acceptable place to leave it.

Have fun and enjoy your system! The SuperSub will fill that room with gorgeous bass!

Thanks Rick!

Unfortunately, the dealer that I was going to buy from sold his last SuperSub X so I’ll be purchasing a SVS instead. Not many dealers actually carry the SuoerSubs in stock.

Which SVS sub are you planning on? I've been rolling this around for weeks now. I have Triton Ones for front channels and REW shows they roll off at 22hz in my room. They can certainly fill the room with bass but I get zero chest/gut punch from the LFE.

I’m planning on the SB-3000 because of its size to performance ratio. I would prefer a ported sub but I do not have the space. Additionally, I own a town house and have neighbors so I’m able to crank it enough to receive a gut punch. Just looking for clean accurate bass down to 20 Hz. I just bought a UMIK-1 and will be using REW once I receive my sub. I’ll go dual subs when I purchase a smaller media cabinet.

I have dual PC-2000 Pros coming Saturday. I told the SVS guys 3 times that I’m willing to spend more for better performance and they insisted this would be an ideal option for my smaller space. I even said Ultra 16 like a dozen times and they said it wouldn’t add anything for a small room. So we shall see and I’ll report back.
