I've one xxl and after I've bought the mic umik-1 I could saw that have some peaks and nulls.

Here are the graphs, generated with the REW.

Measured very near to the drive:

This result with the GE SS XXL between center and front right speakers:

Exist some way to deal with this peak at 25Hz and the other at 40Hz.
On the opposite I've this null at 38Hz and other at 50Hz.

It's possible also get a boost at 17Hz or start get some improvements from 16Hz.
Where I should focus? In the treatment of the room or buying an EQ (e.g. miniDSP2x4)?

Thanks in advance.

Hi and welcome BlackIbiza,
There is a LOT a person would need to know to advise you.
First, how long have you had the SC XXL? It is the SC, center channel XXL we are talking about isn't it?
How much have you played it? Is it broken in? Is this used in a home theater, surround sound situation?
How does it sound to you?
Please tell us more and some graph lines don't mean much standing alone.
God Bless,
Wayne
God bless the child that's got his own.

He's talking about the SuperSub XXL subwoofer.

Hi,

You cannot measure the sub nearfield. Start over with the microphone in your primary listening position.

Room EQ systems (Audyssey, Anthem ARC, Dirac, etc.) can all address these room issues, to varying degrees. You cannot boost frequencies in a null (it will have no effect), you can only reduce peaks, which will also affect the depth of the nulls.

@WayneWilmeth Thank you.

I'm talking about the SuperSub XXL subwoofer, which is used in my home cinema. It's a room in my house used only for that.

@Moderator Thanks for the answer. In that way for the null in some frequencies, means that I only could solve with the room acoustic? E.g. I already read somewhere that if I use the Helmholtz resonator in the opposite wall, I probalby solve the nulls and also decrease the RT.

My AVR its one Pioneer SC-81 , which means that I've the mcacc. In practical terms, I think this does not work for frequencies bellow than 80Hz (where I marked the crossover).

That's why I asked if make sense buying one miniDSP 2x4 to EQ this frequencies (peaks and nulls).

My goal its to get the best bass possible out.

Another question, the XXL model uses a high-pass filter in frequencies bellow of 15Hz ? I'm asking because seems that only starts working from 16Hz. This is due to my room acoustic or is a filter on the XXL to protect him? I also think that with one EQ I can boost 16-20 Hz range.

Note:
The second graph was in my primary listening position. The first, as he has four drivers, I pointed to one. :silly:
I tried to understand the performance without the room influence.

Thanks for the advises.

Bass Traps and other acoustic treatments will help, as will experimenting with subwoofer placement and listening seats locations.

Yes, the sub does have input filtering for frequencies below 15Hz.

Not familiar with either of those systems, but, a good low frequency digital room correction can do wonders for in room bass performance.
