Hi all,

Forgive me if I posted this twice. I thought I posted this yesterday but cannot find it!

I am in process of building a new system. 7.2.4 system. TRefs for fronts. I have bought a Supercenter XXL and was about to unbox it. I thought, hmmm perhaps I should sell this and purchase a Supercenter Ref. Since the super center is NIB I believe I can easily sell it,

Thoughts? opinions ?

Thanks, Mark

Hi, Mark

First, impressive system you've assembled!!!!!

I'd used the SuperCenter XXL for a number of years and loved it, including with T1's and then T Ref's as front mains. Every step up in the GEt speaker line IS better, haven't found an exception yet. I've progressed, as GEt keeps adding/upgrading, from center speaker being a SuperSat 50C to a SuperCenter XL to a XXL and recently a Ref. Each step up brings something better, usually clearer sound, better bass.

Would you love the XXL? Heck yes! That was my center channel speaker for years, and I loved it! Would you hear a further uptick with the Ref, I'd say yes. Most folks who've compared have liked the Ref better. BUT BUT BUT. You have an impressive system that will sound amazing with the XXL as the center also!!!!! If money is no object, then sure getting a SC Ref is another uptick. You could be in goosebump heaven with your XXL too. If you hadn't purchased the XXL already, I'd say go for the SC Ref. Since you have an XXL, your call. They're both amazing center channel speakers, the Ref just some more amazing.

Hope this helps.

Rick

Hi Mark,

Very impressive system. If I might be so bold I would suggest the TRef for just a few hundred dollars more would be easily worth it. Especially since you have invested a large sum of money already in your system. I also lived with the XXL for a few years and found the Reference center to be a significant upgrade in terms of clarity and power handling (ie, it plays loud very cleanly) in my system.

Good luck.
Jim

Thank you Rick for the kind words, this has been a dream of mine for few years to build a system of this caliber. I have just broken in the PrimaLuna's and the Oppo Modwright and it is already incredible! I heard the Trefs over a year ago and in my home in an untreated room with new Tubes I was like "WOW" I think I'll see if there are any takers on Audiogon and USAudiomart and go with the reference if I can get the XXL sold.

My trinnov is on the way, and just got the RELs and the turntable has been waiting to be set up. I cannot wait to see what this will be when I get it all dialed. Looks like I will be BUSY!

Thank you for your perspective! Much appreciated. I started my GEt journey with a pair of Aon 3's and a supersub XXL and some invisa (625's?) for our great room. Love GEt's
Thanks, Mark

Thank you Jim for the Kind words, I am blessed to able to assemble a system of this caliber. I agree and decided to put the XXL up on AGon and USAudiomart. I will order the ref as soon as I can get this sold. No sense skimping at this point fopr something I know I'll end up doing shortly anyway. Thank you for your perspective!
Thanks, Mark
