My dedicated Home Theater is used almost exclusively for watching movies, with a little sports thrown in. I have always subscribed to the theory that the center Channel is the MOST Important channel in a surround sound set-up, and want to get the best quality available that will work in harmony with my 7s. My Atmos speakers are GE Invisa 650s, but my side & rear surround speakers (7.1.2 configuration) are a different brand currently, although they likely will end up being replaced with 4 Invisa MPXs.
I believe that GE still sell the older XXL in addition to the new SC Ref, and I'm thinking that those will blend best with the 7s, given that they have identical tweeters. However, if dialog intelligibility is improved with the Reference, then I'd be up for spending the little extra on the reference model, even if the tone match is very slightly different, at the top end.
Any advice? The minor difference in price isn't much of a driver in this decision.
For reference, my existing speaker is the well reviewed Aerial Acoustics CC3, which was right at $1500 when I bought it 15-20 years ago. It's still in mint condition, but I'd like a better tone match and I'm hoping that I'd also get improved dialog intelligibility.
Thanks
