I recently replaced my AON 3 center channel with the Supercenter XL and I am trying to find a nice crossover setting. I also have the Triton 2's for my L/R mains. After running Audyssey it recommended 40hz for all three but that seemed really low. As of right now I have the Supercenter set at 70hz and the Tritons set at Full Band with the Onkyo "Double Bass" set to ON. It sounds really good but it just doesn't seem as crisp and clear as the AON was? The Supercenter really seemed to wake my entire Home a Theater up, the lows are really incredible, a well done job by Sandy and the Goldenear crew. I think most of what I am hearing in regards to the center are break in related I just thought I would see what others recommended in regards to their set ups.

For movie playback with best dynamics and overall fidelity we'd suggest a 60-80Hz crossover for the SuperCenter XL so you're right there. Triton's should be set to Full Band as you've done, right again. Double Bass is usually not recommended (I presume that means you are running LFE cables to your Tritons in addition to the speaker wires and have set your subwoofer to "Yes"?).

Regarding fidelity, probably break-in as the SuperCenter and Aon are voiced exactly the same. Make sure the tweeter is at, or pointed at, ear level. I am also suspicious of Audyssey - turn it off and see if the system sounds better.

Thanks for the nice comments, enjoy your new system!

No actually double Bass is a setting in the Onkyo receivers that allows you to run the front speakers in full band and use a subwoofer at the same time. I have read up on it quite a bit but still dont completely understand it. I think it was designed to remove some of the bass from front speakers that wont get really low and run it to the sub, which we all know isnt needed with the Tritons. I turned it off along with Audyssey and can tell a big difference, although it does have a much "flatter" sound, the overall quality is alot better with alot clearer sound seperation between the highs and lows. Thanks for the help, I dont know pf any other company that supports their product like your staff.
