I have a marantz sr6005 (110wpc) and triton two’s. With that combo and 2-channel music - it sounds good. As I move to 7 channel home-theater, the AVR struggles - and the wpc drop significantly. I picked up a MM7025 (140wpc x 2) amp for the T2’s, and let the AVR drive the rest - and that works quite well. If I had to do it all over again, I’d just go separates. At this point, for 2-channel listening with your system, I’d look at a better outboard DAC vs. what’s inside the marantz. That made a huge difference for me and really allowed the tritons to shine.
Triton Two front L/R
SuperSat 50c center
Triton Seven surround L/R
SuperSat 50 surround rear L/R
AVR Arcam AVR-21
Amp Marantz mm7025
Velodyne optimum 10” sealed, back left corner
SuperSub X front-right corner

More can be just more, but better is always better. There is no question that the speakers will sound better with improved electronics, not that there is anything wrong with your Marantz, which is certainly doing a good job with your speakers thanks to their high efficiency.

The Parasound amp will be a great combo with the Tritons. We use the current Parasound Halo 5 channel amps in our show demos all the time.

Hi Buckchester,

Looks like you may have the audio bug similar to myself and many other GE lovers. As mentioned by the other members on this post, more power does not necessarily mean better sound quality.

At this level it is a matter of how the design, engineering, and execution are completed. Purchasing audiophile quality electronics (pre-amp, amps, inputs, etc.) will only make your system sound better, but only you will be able to determine whether the quality increase is noticeable and worth the extra cost.

Keep us posted on your journey and choices.

Enjoy the sound!

Don
