This is a continuation of a previous thread I started a couple of weeks ago.

I am considering adding a subwoofer to try and get more bass from my 2.0 stereo music collection (I have the Triton Two Plus controlled by a Marantz AV7703 pre-amp). It seems that regardless of the source (LPs, CDs, etc.) there is not an adequate amount of bass to get the proper balance. When listening to 5.1 music or watching movies or concerts with 5.1, the .1 bass source is very robust and adequate.

I do not want to spend $2K on a subwoofer and then find out that it won't make that much of a difference. Has anyone had a similar experience with the towers? If you made the subwoofer work with your system , what settings did you set in your receiver / pre-amp for your towers and sub?

Yes. I have two subwoofers set up this way, with triton 2’s.

1. Set the marantz to 2 channel stereo
2. Go into speaker settings, set the tritons to large
3. Adjust the subwoofer level to “on”, with any setting above the lowest (which is sometimes LFE only)
4. Enjoy additional bass

Please refer to page 175 of your manual: Av7703 manual download

Triton Two front L/R
SuperSat 50c center
Triton Seven surround L/R
SuperSat 50 surround rear L/R
AVR Arcam AVR-21
Amp Marantz mm7025
Velodyne optimum 10” sealed, back left corner
SuperSub X front-right corner

Hi Timecop, Did you disconnect your LFE cables from the back of the Tritons and only run the separate subs using an LFE out cable from your receiver?
How do you have your speakers connected?
Thanks

Tritons are set to large, speaker wire only NO LFE to towers. Subwoofers have LFE cables to them.

Hey Richd,
I hear ya, I had to add a sub, did so (SVS SB16 Ultra) and I love it.
Timecop seems to know your setup very well, I don't so I will stay out of it. I do it differently.
But all the best to you, be sure you get what you want.
God Bless,
Wayne
