I'm getting Triton 2.s and have high performance dual subs. Also have AVR w XT32 - multi sub eq/dual outputs. And minidsp.

1. I could run it so the ind subs are through one AVR sub output... They aren't equidistant, but then Audyssey would eq and set distances for them together. Speaker subs would be through other AVR output and aud would handle same as I just described.

2. I could run subs ind through each sub output and then not use speakers ind sub LFE output at all.

3. I could run it so one sub and one speaker sub is through each AVR output.

4. I could pour gasoline all over my living room floor. Light it on fire. Move to Mexico and live in a remote region without electricity.

Seriously, with the exception of 2. Just thinking about it gives me a head ache.

Any advice?

Hey DaveyMac,
It is enough to make ones' head spin round.
But it really does not have to be that tough. I recommend setting up the T2s and listen, then add the subs and listen. Experiment and you will find a good mix, good way to do it.
Don't let it overwhelm you, just have fun with it.
Enjoy, God Bless,
Wayne

Typically, on average:

1. If you want T2 speaker and internal subs to play as one unit, you simply don't use their lfe output, And then you set them to Large, subwoofer yes, full range?

2. OR if you do use their lfe outputs you would still set to large, sub yes, crossover 40hz?

Keep in mind this is for a system that will have ind subs hooked up no matter what.

Hey DaveyMac

It all depends on what you want from your setup. I definitely agree with Wayne to take the time to listen to the T2s first by themselves and then add the separates. I have T2s and a pair of FF4s and the hardest thing for me has been to get all four low end drivers to play together. I agree with you that you should always leave the T2s set to full/large as the moderator suggests even if you also use the LFE input.
I would initially try the separate two subs on different sub outputs since you said that they are not equidistant and your head unit can calculate them differently that way. The crossover for the separates is really subjective. I usually want my extras subs to play the frequencies that my center and surrounds don't due to their crossover frequencies. However position in the room and the room itself may make some higher bass frequencies directional. If you like a lot of LFE impact from movies, and your separates are not doing enough by themselves or are pulling sounds to the wrong place, you can always go back and put your T2s on one sub out and your separates on another, just like you said.

Hope you have as much fun as I do

Chris, so if I'm understanding, you have your ff4s going to AVR output. And you don't use the lfe outputs on subs? Is that what you ended up with.

Hey DaveyMac

If I am catching what you are saying correctly, yes. If not, I will try to be specific about those parts of my setup.

My T2s are run full range/large with speaker leads only, no RCA cables.
Each of my FF4s has a RCA cable that goes from one of my receivers sub out connectors to the FF4s LFE in connector.

You should understand that I care primarily about music. I personally don't care about the LFE effects of movies so I turn them off. Your preferences may require sub out using RCA's to both your separates and your T2s in the end. I don't know your preferences, but in any case, I would begin with my setup and then try others. If you are like many of us you will eventually try almost everything anyway.

Have fuuun
