The Emotiva XMC-1 will be reviewed in an upcoming issue of Stereophile. You may want to wait awhile before making any decisions -- the guys at Stereophile really know their stuff.

Emotiva sent me an email today indicating that the XMC-1 price is jumping from $1999 to $2499 May 1st.

I hope with the added price comes added features. If not, I can have an XSP-1 for 2 channel and a factory refurbished Marantz AV7702 with all the bells and whistles for theater for the same price. Emotiva's website claims they are stopping the trade up program as well. I'm not sure these moves are consistent with their branding to this point and what has led to their loyal customer base...

My guess is that the price increase will follow what they anticipate is a glowing review from Stereophile. Well, supply and demand! I have no doubt their products will continue to be a tremendous value, I just hate to see dramatic departures from policies that made a brand stand out. If they incorporate Atmos along with this price increase, I'll humbly take all of this back...
