Greetings,

I just read about the upcoming release of the Triton 5s this spring. I was wondering will they have a built in amp?
Thank you in advance.

The T5's are unpowered...think of them as T7's on steroids. They have two side mounted 8 inch-sub-bass radiators which extends down to 26 hz.

It has a pair of six-inch high- definition cast-basket drivers, one above and one below the HFVR tweeter. The T5 borrows the crossover network originally developed for the T1.

The T5 sounds like winner.
D-Sonic m3a-600m Mono > McIntosh MC152 > Primaluna ProLogue Premium Preamp > Oppo UDP205 > Decware ZLC > Triton Reference > Isoacoustics Gaia 2 > Canare 4S11 Speaker Cables > Audience Forte 3, Anticable L3 & Shunyata Venom PC's

Every great performance deserves an Audience!

Would it be fair to say that the Triton 5s would be a better match for surround duties paired with F and R Triton 1s? This is compared to the 7s due to the similarity of the crossovers network and the absence of the powered subs would would be needed on most pre pros and amplifiers due to the limitation of 2 LFE outputs.

LFE outputs can be split up to three times with "Y" connectors.

For surround/rear speakers, pick what fits the space and the budget. There is no need for full range in those channels, but having four subs playing LFE is pretty cool.
