Two questions about proper setup of my Triton Two's:

1. How far down is the tweeter from the front TOP edge of the speaker? My understanding is that the tweeter should ideally be at my ear height when seated.

2. Currently I have each Triton Two standing on fairly thick pad/carpet combination, directly on top of a Auralex Subdude isolation platform. Will they sound better if I take them off the Subdude platforms and use spikes instead?

Hey lozsgo54...the tweeter on the T2 is 39 1/2 in. from the floor (up) or 8 1/2 in. (down) from the top.

Some feel that a isolation riser is an incredibly effective device and yields nearly total acoustic sound isolation, resulting in a purity of tone that has to be heard to be believed.

Speakers almost always sound better when spiked, so try spiking the speakers directly onto the isolation risers. Also, try spiking the speakers directly onto the carpet without the risers...let your ears be the judge.

That's interesting Anthem what you said about the isolation risers. Are you using any? It's making me want to explore it more to use with my 1's.

Lozsgo might be too early to ask but how did you go with the spikes? Did you try them on top of the Subdude? Also which model did you buy of the Subdude I know they sell a couple of versions? I assume they sound better on them than just on the carpet? Your feedback on your findings would be great to hear.

Hey Steve: No I don't have the Auralex Risers, but was interested in logsgo54 comments, so looked them and read a couple reviews. The most interesting review came from audio asylum.com/.../auralex/...isolation-riser-subdude

The reviewer, smoke test (A) used the risers on his 82 lb. floor standing Linaeum 10 speakers. He placed the spiked speakers on the risers, onto a hardwood floor. He felt the whole frequency range had improved. Bass, brass, cymbals, voices, spatial imaging, clarity, and more were significantly better. Frequency range was more improved-not necessarily more extended but more 'intelligible'.

These sound most interesting... I too am very interested in logsgo54 thoughts and review.

I will be testing later this week. I can say already, though, that the speakers without spikes, placed directly on the carpet, lost detail and impact compared to when I had them spikeless on the Auralex riser. I've now mounted the speakers with spikes on the Auralex, but won't be able to test for a few days. I'm hopeful for even better sound even though the combination of Auralex plus spikes puts the tweeter a bit higher than ear-level.

Nice one anthem that was a good link very intriguing for sure. This product sounds great. I am still running my t1s just on the carpet so I better get those spikes on this weekend!

Lozsgo Let's us know how the spikes go on the Auralex. Also what exact model of the Subdude are you using?
