I've had my Triton II/SuperSat system for some time and have upgraded to the new Marantz SR7008 AVR. The Marantz offers two settings for speaker impedance: 8 ohms or 6-8 ohms. I know the Triton II and SuperSat specs list the speakers as "compatible with 8 ohms", but I seem to recall a discussion somewhere that while this may be a nominal value, the actual impedance can dip somewhat lower at certain frequencies. I have left the SR7008 at the default 8 ohm setting and all seems well -- no signs of overheating and certainly no shortage of power output. However, would the 6-8 ohm setting be a safer bet for the long haul?

The 6-8 setting is actually closer to reality, but I don't believe it will make any real difference. If its running happily at the 8 ohm setting, I'd just leave it alone. If you're curious, listen both ways and choose the one that sounds best.
