hi all, just reporting on the latest improvement: I replaced old monster cable xl with Naim NAC A5 (this is cable Naim makes for its stuff and recommends). I notice an immediate improvement - speakers are louder at same volume actually which is interesting, much added clarity and punchier bass. Reportedly the cables take about 100 hours to break in, so will report again as they get going but this was a very nice improvement, more than I suspected.
NAC A5 is also not very expensive, so nice bang for the buck I think. I'm looking forward to hearing about Wayne's MITs which I have heard are great, I heard MIT cables on $100K speakers at my local dealer, and, well, don't know if its was the calbes but it all sounded great
Thanks all for your ideas and encouragement!

Hi Pitkow33,
Thanks for this update, and I am really looking forward to what you find out after they are broken in.
I sure do hope to report in as soon as I can when my MIT cables are plugged in, never mind broken in.
I assure you I am looking forward to hearing them in my system more than you are!!!!
Maybe a few weeks more, before Christmas I HOPE!!!!!
Enjoy your music,
God Bless,
Wayne

Thanks Pitkow33,
Sorry to not write sooner. Thanks for asking, and please tell us more about how your NACA5 came out?
The answer is a big YES. The MIT cables are GREAT.
Now, being honest, I changed out soooo many things in my system that I cannot say with any degree of certainty how much difference the MIT ICs and Speaker cables made. I can say it is all good.
The Triton 2s made the biggest difference in my system. Of that I am certain. That is even compared with the Triton 3s, which would have made a huge difference had I not been able to compare them with the T2s.
I have just ordered some more cables from Signal cable, their silver reference. Not expensive cables.
The Vincent SP-T800 mono blocks like to play in balanced configuration, or so I read on the net. I can do that with some longer interconnect cables, so I ordered some 8 ft balanced to try them out. And while I was at it, I also got their silver reference speaker cables at 4 ft since the amps are placed close to the T2s. Some say there is a synergy using the same ICs and Speaker cables. MIT says that anyway. I will see what difference they make, when I get them.
My plan, if the silver goes well, as good as or better than the MITs, I would put the MITs on the Triton 3s with a tube integrated for a living room setup. Two channel only. Small music, piano, guitar, solo crooners, chamber music, folk, dinner music, etc.
Will try and report back when I have something better to compare to.
God Bless,
Wayne

Hey Wayne:
I believe I said I would never purchase another pair of speaker cables, but after visiting the Signal Cable site I might change my mind...looks interesting. Let us know if those "old ears"can hear a difference.

Hey Bro Anthem,
Wow, I am glad to know my prayers for you MIGHT be doing you some good!!!!!
I started praying harder for you when you took the wires offa yer lamps and hooked up your wonderful speakers with em.
Ha ha, just messin with ya.
Ahhh, can my old ears hear the difference??? That will be the question indeed.
I will actually be pretty surprised IF they can.
BUT I do think there may be SOMETHING??? to be said for system synergy, and possibly to staying with one brand/kind/type of cables. I don't know.
BUT my Marantz can output a balanced signal and the Vincent mono blocks are said to like a balanced input, (it will bypass a conversion in the amp that changes the signal to balanced before amplification, so less signal length the better, right???), I figured it was worth a try. And short runs of speaker cable is a good idea right?
AND Signal cables are on last year's Stereophile Recommended Components list.
AND Frank there at SC is a no nonsense, no snake oil, no hype kind of guy. I got his cables for my surround speakers and was impressed with them, though they are not the silver reference. Good quality solid construction at a quite reasonable price.
IF I were you and in the States, I would call Frank and talk to him. He is helpful on emails.
The BIG question for me is Will these cables sound better than the WAY more expensive MIT cables?
IF ANY noticeable improvement, I will put the MITs to work on the Triton 3 system in the living room. I have already tried them there and they/it sounds GREAT.
IF ANY noticeable loss in sound quality, my daughter gets some great looking cables for her bedroom stereo.
I will let you know, but will be a few weeks for them to get to me I reckon.
God Bless,
Wayne
