a bit more detail on the NACA5:
with the monster cable, I had this odd problem where the bass was very smeared and if I stood along the wall (basically to the left of the the left speaker or to the right of the right speaker), the bass would be much louder.
I thought it had to do with the placement of the speakers since I have a difficult room, and did a bunch of moving around, different toe in, etc. but this didn't help.
I was surprised when changing the speaker cables to NACA5 the problem immediately disappeared, and overall clarity and transparency was vastly improved, instruments and vocals for example 'separated' more. Wow, it was a whole new level which tells me the monster much have been terrible! I was surprised how much difference it made, it was not a small improvement and resolving the bass issue was a nice surprise.
I'm now thinking I could work on my source (Mac Mini typically) and upgrade the power to linear from switching which many people report has a big improvement, and/or also look at further upgrading speaker cables.
Anyway, hope this is useful info. I'm loving the Goldenears - starting to think about Triton 1s !

Hi Pitkow33, (I am guessing a pit kow is much more civilized than a pit bull???)
Thanks for the good report on the cables.
They don't call it Monster because it is pretty.
But it is remarkable that you got that much improvement.
Don't report this on the other forums, they will call you ugly names.
I will be interested to hear more from you on other upgrades you try, I am pretty sure you can hear better than I can.
Especially amps seem to take a big step up in price to get noticeably better sound. Diminishing returns come to play in a nasty way, at least in my experience.
And Triton 1s, YEAH, step up to the plate, get off the porch and run with the big boys!!!!
Keep us updated, all the best listening,
God Bless,
Wayne

Wayne how are the cables from Signal Cables sounding? Are they any good or does your daughter get an early Christmas present?
D-Sonic m3a-600m Mono > McIntosh MC152 > Primaluna ProLogue Premium Preamp > Oppo UDP205 > Decware ZLC > Triton Reference > Isoacoustics Gaia 2 > Canare 4S11 Speaker Cables > Audience Forte 3, Anticable L3 & Shunyata Venom PC's
Every great performance deserves an Audience!

Ha ha, funny Bro Anthem,
We do not live in the same kind of world as you. The cables are ordered and made and have been shipped to a freight forwarder in Calif. They have not notified us that the cables have been rec'd. Once received they wait until shipping time and send to Thailand. Then when in Bangkok they will arrange to send them up North to us. We are looking at weeks yet.
Thanks for your interest, will let you know when and if.
God Bless,
Wayne

Hey Wayne,
It's the "Sandy Gross, Kool-Aid Drinkin" Stickday! Well, if you recall I was asking anyone to compare my Old BP30 DefTechs to the Triton 7. Well, to heck with SAF... I took your hallowed advice and went big... found a local guy transferring to Europe and helped him find a new home for this Triton 2 / SS50 / SC50 system (Big Grin!) . The downside was that he was genuinely sad. He spend over an hour demo'ing his favorite tunes & blue rays for me. I have a new friend though.
I am biting my nails, but am NOT setting it up yet so I can demo my old system and find it a home. C'mon craigslist!
OK! Back to the thread. Did you get your silver-rez Signal cables yet? Whatchathink? I need new cables and these look reasonably priced but I'm wondering about Signals statement "for systems that are neutral or on the laid back side, and is willing to take on Absolute accuracy!"
I have a cabinet spot I will be putting a SuperCenter X in and will be getting the invisa's for my ceiling rears (or perhaps just see how my deftech ceiling speakers blend). I will either sell the 3 SS50s or relocate to another room.

Hey Stickday,
You da man!!!!
I am glad you bought those speakers and I am SURE you will love them. You are gonna have a GREAT sounding system!!!
Well done.
I am expecting the cables any day now, I just heard they will ship from Bangkok today, so maybe tomorrow. Then I gotta get em hooked up and some listening in. I will report, Lord willing and the Creek don't rise.
The things some people report on silver cables is that they can be too bright sounding, if there is digital "glare" or such on the recording it will come through as really harsh sounding. NOT warm.
IF that happens to me, I will take them back out (and maybe you can buy some cables for a really good price, ha ha).
But the Tritons are already warm sounding and with my tube/hybrids I am expecting the silver cables to just give me a bit more detail and air. Here's hoping.
Will check back, ENJOY, God Bless,
Wayne
