I'm waiting for deliver of a pair of Triton 2s and a SuperSat50C. The towers will be positioned several feet into the room for optimal unprocessed stereo reproduction.

For best matching, should I plan to similarly mount the SuperSat50C out into the room on stands, or wall-mount it and take advantage of a bit of lower-end gain? For cinema and other multi-channel sources, the system will be used with Audyssey, but I'd as soon start with the best acoustic matching I can achieve by speaker positioning.

Thanks for a GREAT sounding speaker!

Thank you for your purchase. Wall mounting the SuperSat 50C does have some advantages and will still match acoustically. I have heard installations with both wall mounted and TV Stand mounted Center Channel and both sounded excellent and blended perfectly with the Triton L/R.

Hope you get your speakers soon - enjoy!

Thanks for your response. Before I break out the drill (and mess up the lovely paint job) versus replace the screws in a pair of GEM stands, I would appreciate if you would be more specific about the advantages and disadvantages of wall mounting.

I can appreciate that both can sound excellent, but if you were doing it, is there one you would favor over the other?

Thanks!

Wall mounting reinforces mid-bass frequencies which may impact your choice of crossover frequencies and subwoofer level. Free air mounting eliminates the close boundary effects and can yield a more three dimensional sonic presentation. Use of room correction systems will also lessen or eliminate these differences.

I prefer the sonic performance and installation simplicity/flexibility of free air installation (mine is on a shelf above the TV), but the convenience and space savings of wall mounting may easily outweigh the sonic benefits for most listeners.

Thanks. The front of my room is a no-fly zone already, so placing another speaker there is not an issue.

Product suggestion: I'd love to see an SS50C variant that can be mounted vertically, but with the tweeter closer to the top of the unit to allow stand mounting without 12" of the speaker needing to be above ear height, i.e. a similar driver configuration to the Triton 2s with the passive radiators at the bottom of the cabinet. I imagine this would provide a better dispersion match to the Tritons. That, I could handily fit under my screen.
