Hi,
I'm new to this forum, but have been involved in the A/V business since 1985. The store I work for has been in business since 1954. I wanted to share with you some of our impressions of the new Triton Threes.

We decided to put them on display with a Yamaha RXA-2010, with Supersat50s for the rears and a 50C for the center. We set them up in a smaller room ( 12 X 15) that we've had good success with using speakers with side firing subs. The fronts were set up in a equilateral triangle from the listening position angled in about 30 degrees. We set up the front speakers as large, with no subwoofer, and the center and rear crossed over at 110hz.

All we can say is, OMG, what a beautifully balanced system! The sound stage starts way outside the main speakers, and the transition from channel to channel is seamless! The bass is tight and deep! It literally moves the seats, but is not the least bloated. Mids and highs are super smooth without a trace of harshness. You don't realize how loud the system is playing until you try talking and have to really speak loudly to be heard!

I can't tell you how excited we are about this system. Another great system from Sandy Gross!

Hi, my dedicated music room is exactly the same size as yours. How do you position your main speakers? Along the 15' or the 12' wall? What's the distance between the two main speakers? Thanks in advance.

The front speakers are on the shorter of the walls. The two speakers are 87.5 inches apart (at center of the frron baffles) and 30 inches from the wall behind them to the front of the speakers. The listening postion is 120 inches from the front wall. Toe the speakers so they are crossing right at the listening position. The bottom of the rears are 43 inches off the floor with the speakers 9 nches in from the corners.

Hope this helps!

Hi Scott, thanks for the information. Have you tried Triton two in your room? Will it overload a 12x15 room? If you did, besides bass, did you hear anything else different between Triton two and three? Thanks.

I'm sorry about the delay in my response. I've been a bit busy at home.

Actually, we have the Triton Twos in larger room. They are hooked to a dedicated two channel system. We all love them there so much we been loath to move them! For what it's worth, we have had larger speakers with 10 inch side firing woofers in the 12 x 15 room and those would overload that room. It was still plenty fun!

I find the sound qualities of the two speaker systems to be very similar. The Triton Threes aren't quite as dynamic but seem to be a tiny bit smoother and seem to go a bit deeper. In a 12 x 15 room the Triton Threes play stupid loud!

BTW, if you haven't heard them yet, be sure to try out the new Aons. They are truly amazing for small bookshelf speaker!

Sincerely,

Scott
