I have had the Triton 5's with HSU sub woofer for about 3 years and really enjoy them. I'm thinking of stepping up to the Triton 2+ speakers for my 18' x 22' foot room with acoustic tile ceiling carpeting and some tile for Jotul heat stove. Are these 2+ series too large for the room? What advantages will there be ? More presence, image, better mid-range? Thanks.

Hi, dcoe45

I have not heard a direct comparison of the T5 and T2+, hoping someone who has upgraded from the 5's to the 2+'s can provide some input.

But several thoughts/comments. First, no, the T2+'s would not be too big for a 18 X 22' room. You can easily adjust sound levels and the bass controls on the 2+'s to sound how you like it in that room IMO. Second, with the two bass drivers with built in amps, the 2+'s should play much deeper into the bass frequencies, and if you still want to use the HSU sub to fill in more bass, I would venture that you can use a lower crossover with the 2+'s, say 40 Hz, than with the 5's and utilize the 2+'s outstanding bass integration to provide room filling sound.

Hope this helps a little.

Happy listening!

Your room is great for Triton 2+. Just let them be far enough apart from each other, far enough away from the side walls, and far enough away from the back wall. Then they play their best.

Picked up my first GE's 3 weeks ago, Triton 2+'s and dang they're awesome.

Full and meaty in my room of 22x25. They were the nicest things I've ever bought myself...that was until 2 weeks ago when I got my full 7.2.4 GE system with One.R's as the mains...

You can't go wrong with 3+ and up.

Thanks for the input of the Triton 2+ speakers. I did purchase the pair of 2+ some time ago and have been impressed with each listening session. Now, I'm thinking of selling my 5's and of course they are excellent condition from smoke free home . Let me know if your interested.
