AKM's factory in Japan has burned down, putting them out of business for six months to a year. Their DAC's are used in a number of high end audio components, including Marantz (my SR 7010 has a AK 4458 DAC), Anthem, etc.

This will be interesting. What will those audio component manufacturers do for the next year? Substitute other DAC's in their products? I love the Velvet sound DAC's AKM manufactures. Guess we'll have to see.

Sad to hear, hope no serious injuries. My integrated amp uses AK4490 "Velvet Sound" and love it. Done some comparison against other stand alone DAC, still prefer AKM's sound signature.
