I am intending to purchase a pair of Triton 2+. I recently researched the Marantz SR 6014 (AVR) rated at 110 wpc into 2 channels. Reading on-line, that 110W seems a liiiittle underwhelming for a pair of Triton 2+. I seem to recall a professional reviewer powering a pair with about a 165 wpc AVR which he said "really brought them out."
I want to ask some of you guys what you are using to power those T2+, and what I should "shoot for". The Marantz SR6014 was recently voted the "Best" AVR (I guess for the money/value/features) in 2019 by 'Sound & Vision' magazine, but at 110W (and a THD of 0.08) it is not overwhelming me !

Welcome to the forum and extended GET family (presumably you'll purchase the 2+). The answer to your question depends on how loud you like to listen to music and your understanding of the decibel scale. The 2+ are rated at 91 db efficiency. That means at only 1 watt you can produce 91 db from each speaker and 94 db from both speakers combined. That's pretty loud. Your Marantz SR 6014 should be more than adequate, IMO.

Within reason, 110 watts should be just fine. If you ever feel the need for more Headroom, you can always add an external amp to the mix.

Specs alone don't tell the complete story but they can be helpful.

One consistent thing we have found is amps that are capable of driving low impedance loads (say, 4 or even 2 ohms) really bring the Tritons alive. The "little" Pass Labs XA30.8 amp (30 wpc into 8 ohms) really makes the T-Ref and T1.R speakers sound great. In the specs of the amps you consider they should have significantly more output at 4 ohms, up to 2x the 8 ohm rating. If you're looking at an amp that is capable of good output at 2 ohms, too, all the better, especially if the distortion and noise are also low.
