Greetings
I am going to install 2 Atmos height channels. I expect delivery next week of 2 x htr7000's. I will install them probably 2 to 3 feet in front of my mlp in the ceiling pointed back to mlp. Given proximity to side surrounds I will not install rear channels right now. Just wondering if anyone has installed 2 HTR7000's vs 4 & if so can you give me your thoughts on their performance?

Dwight,
I look forward to your report! I just bought a Gen 3 XPA-5 from Emotiva to give me the added channels of amplification needed for Atmos. Now I'll start saving my allowance for the 7000s. I'll likely do 2 at a time starting up front as well. Let us know how things go, please.
Cheers,
T Cobe

Will do! I may have made a mistake as I ordered a Marantz M7025 2 channel amp to drive the HTR 7000's. If I decide to go ahead & order 2 more HTR 7000's for rear height channels later on then I have no more amp channels. Perhaps I should have ordered a 5 channel amp.
Good luck with the XPA5. I have a Gen 1 XPA 5 for several years now. Great amp

I finally got the gear for Atmos install. Just waiting for delivery of 12 awg speaker wire to begin fishing cable. I am going with the suggested GE 7.2.2 setup. The HTR 7000's will sit about 3 feet forward of mlp & parallel of my T1 mains. However before I cut the ceiling holes I will check angles to make sure the 30 degree fixed speaker angle lines up with the mlp position.
I am going to commence with some preliminary work today ie determine speaker location & check for clearance above ceiling drywall to make sure ceiling joist does not interfere with speaker location.
More to come

Good for you, Dwight!!
I think you're going to really enjoy what height channels can add. Between Dolby ATMOS/Surround and DTS:X/Neural, you will get the benefits of height channel up-mixing even on the prior Dolby and DTS formats. The up-mixing of the prior formats is surprisingly good, realistic.
Let us know your impressions once you get it all going!
Happy listening!

Good luck with the XPA5. I have a Gen 1 XPA 5 for several years now. Great amp
Dwight,
I've had a Gen 2 XPA 5 for some time now. My hope is that the sound of the Gen 3 is not too different. I plan to test the new amp in my current setup when it arrives to see how the two compare. I'll keep the preferred amp in my current setup and use the other for the additional Atmos channels. I will have one extra channel once everything is in place and I have considered having dual center channels for some time based on discussion here in the forum. That may come when GET releases a super sized in wall speaker.
I'll pop back in and let you know how the new XPA 5 sounds in case you are looking to upgrade to another 5-channel amp. The first review of the new Gen 3 amp with a switch mode power supply and technology from their XPR series amps was very positive. I'm hoping to get a little extra punch and clarity. Fingers crossed!
Cheers,
T Cobe
