Miles Davis / Kind of Blue

Yesterday, i listened for 8 hours and went through 9 cds. The Oppo UDP-205/AntiCable combo is in my mind, a step up, with its detail and clarity of instruments. The 205 has less top-end glare than the 105, which makes it a better choice for brass and woodwind lovers, such as myself. Back to the Music...
D-Sonic m3a-600m Mono > McIntosh MC152 > Primaluna ProLogue Premium Preamp > Oppo UDP205 > Decware ZLC > Triton Reference > Isoacoustics Gaia 2 > Canare 4S11 Speaker Cables > Audience Forte 3, Anticable L3 & Shunyata Venom PC's

Every great performance deserves an Audience!

Dave Douglas & Keystone / Moonshine (2008) -- Tough

What an astonishing and mesmerizing listening experience I'm having this afternoon.
The UDP-205 as a standalone cd player, is worth it's weight in gold. As the hours progress, I'm being drawn more & more into what this player is sonically capable of. Tomorrow I'll probably have an Out Of Body Experience!

Bro Anthem, sounds like the 205 has your endorsement then? Even well over the 105?
In that case it must surely be much better than my older 95.
Still looking for one that can play all regions blu rays.
Are you using the DAC in the 205? Playing it with the analog outs? Or straight through your pre amp? Or using it as a pre amp straight to your amps?
Thanks for any more info.
Happy listening,
God Bless,
Wayne

Freddie Hubbard / Hub-Tones (1962) -- Prophet Jennings

Started day three (today) with John Coltrane/Blue Train which sounded superb, and now onto Freddie Hubbard. It's Amazing how the 205/Refs grab hold of the sound with a Smoothness from top to bottom.

Wayne:
My setup is as follows:
Emotiva xpa-1's (mono's) > Primaluna Premium Preamp (tube) > Oppo UDP-205 (rca analog outs) > Furman Elite -15 PF

Emotiva xpa-1's - Primaluna Premium Preamp - Oppo UDP-205 > AntiCable Reference 3 pcs

T REFS > Shunyta Venom Pcs (directly into wall outlet)

Interconnects > AntiCable Signature Level 6.2
Speaker Wire > AntiCable Level 3.1

This is a Superb sounding system!
Thus far I'm so infatuated with the sound I have NO desire (at this time) to experiment with any other settings.
Wayne: I think you would be most impressed with the sound quality of this player.
I don't know the answer to your All regions question, but if it does, Don't Hesitate -- BUY IT! YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED!

Hey Anthem. I have the Oppo 205 and love it but I don't think I'm using it optimally.
I take the output from it via HDMI into my Marantz 7703, so the Marantz is doing the D to A C.
Does sound great, but I think I'll try analog out of the Oppo so its DAC is doing the work and do some A/B testing. Should be interesting!

Since we are in the currently playing topic I'll make this topical.
Enjoying lots of Holiday music, especially the Joan Baez Noel CD.
On vinyl really loving the Ravi Shankar Portrait of Genius limited release for record store day.
And also continuing my current obsession with Nouvelle Vague via Parade on vinyl. Sounds great!
