Artist: The Dave Brubeck Quartet
Album: Time Out
Track Title: Take Five

More early morning, low volume listening. This was the last of the new albums I had received this week. This album is great. Performance and sound quality are both top notch. At low volumes, the Triton's subs aren't getting to stretch their legs but the HVFR tweeter is shimmering!

Cheers,

T Cobe

Same artist, same album. This is Strange Meadow Lark. Another beautiful track. Dave Brubeck plays piano very well. It stood out to me and I've never played. Some of his work on this album and this track in particular seem to lean towards classical.

After listening to the entire album, sound quality is certainly better than some albums recorded in this era but there some weak areas. In particular, there is some static during the more dynamic play of the alto sax. I highly recommend this album.

Cheers,

T Cobe

New music...Joshua Redman/Wish (1993) -- Turnaround.

This is a loaner cd from a guy I met Thursday. He is putting together a small recording studio in his basement, and invited me down for a listen. The guy loves Jazz, especially Coltrane, Rollins, and Stan Getz. He plays and teaches the sax ( his wife is an opera singer) and has worked with some of the great female vocalist jazz artists of our day. He also does work for the Brick House Recording Studio in Wichita Kansas. It's hard to find a person who shares the same music interests as oneself..this is that guy. I had a great conversation and a wonderful time.

Wish is not Redmans greatest endeavour, but worth a listen
