Wayne:

Have you listened to Elbow on headphones? If it sounds good, there must be a problem in your main system. I'm finding way too many cd's
are horribly recorded. By the way, what surround speakers have you chosen? Center channel?
D-Sonic m3a-600m Mono > McIntosh MC152 > Primaluna ProLogue Premium Preamp > Oppo UDP205 > Decware ZLC > Triton Reference > Isoacoustics Gaia 2 > Canare 4S11 Speaker Cables > Audience Forte 3, Anticable L3 & Shunyata Venom PC's

Every great performance deserves an Audience!

Brother Anthem,
That is a great idea, you are a thinker.
I have not had time to even get past the second song on the album, but will get back to it, I HOPE.
Will try with some cans on my ears.
I have Mirage speakers for center and surrounds. V2-FS for rear surrounds (4) and MC-2 for center channel. They are actually full range speakers, and although not GoldenEar quality, still they sound really good.
Unfortunately I am having to use the floorstanders for my front speakers until I get my house built and actually have room for the Tritons.
Blessings,
Wayne

Anthem,
That settled it. I listened with cans and the music (Elbow) sounded horrible. After a nice beginning, around a min or more into the CD, it gets loud, and the sound was a mess. I like loud. But it sounded like when you used to make a recording on a tape and got WAY over into the red, overdriven, compressed and muddled up.
I will keep this CD for playing when I get my Tritons and my system all set up properly. If they can make sense of it, then I will know I have some awesome resolution sound system. I doubt it frankly.

Anyone else with experience of "Leaders of the Free World" by Elbow? Their "Build a Rocket Boys" is almost reference, except for the fact that it is REALLY great music.
Thanks, happy listening,
Blessings, Wayne

Steve Earl, Townes Van Zandt and Guy Clark
"Together at the Bluebird Cafe".

Listen to the detail on Guy Clark's "Dublin Blues", this should come over on your GoldenEars.
