Hi,

I just purchased my Triton 2's and a 50C for my home theater/sound system.

I am considering the Oppo BDP-93 to serve as a dual purpose Blu-ray player and CD player. I want to know (assuming you're familiar) if this is a good selection as a high quality audio device (for strait CD playback), as well as being a great BD player?

If you DO suggest this as a good audio source, how should I connect it to my Marantz SR-5006 receiver. Via HDMI only or should I also use the DAC connections, or some other way I'm not thinking of??

If you DO NOT suggest this as a good choice what would be a good selection as a separate CD player (trying to keep with in my budget of $500 total for both BD and CD players) to get the best sound out of my new system???

Thanks,

Ben

Yes, the Oppo is a great choice. You will need the HDMI connection for your high def Blu-Ray audio (and video of course) playback. You can also use this for CD playback, although the preferred connection for CD playback will either be coax/optical or analog (using the Oppo's DACs instead of the receiver's for CD music playback).

This might be a stupid question... But, can I hook up both connections from the Oppo to my receiver? HDMI for BD & coax/optical for CD, then choose the input on the receiver for the respective selection, BD & CD?
