Hi,

What do you think would be best as center channel, Supercenter Reference or a Triton One?
Front left and right are Triton Ones.
If upgrading to Reference for front left and right which would be better for center channel again, the Supercenter Reference or a Triton One?

Right now building the system and changes may come along and at the moment I have the XXL as a center channel but I was thinking of maybe buying the Refs for fronts and use one Triton One for center or the set as front wide.
Sides and surrounds are Triton One.
Subs PB16s x2 and hopefully 2 Monolith 15s which will complete the set once and for all.
Distance from all speakers will be equal at 2.5-2.8 meters.

Hey bonepeeler

Wow, that's an impressive system! SIX T1's for fronts, side and rear surrounds, two external subs, etc. Must sound amazing.

So, good question about next step re the XXL center channel. Some thoughts from someone who has heard and owned or owns the T Ref's, SC XXL and then Ref, T1's... Don't know if you have all six T1's with LFE connections, but you have an abundance of bass sources, in six T1's and two subs, and maybe two more subs on the way. So let's talk about what the Ref technology does for the clarity side of things also. First the T Ref's are a major step over the T1's in every way, including bass also, with SuperSub like bass output. But it's the amazing clarity, imaging that impresses also. And likewise for the SC Ref.

Back to the center channel decision. You almost can't go wrong with any of the options you mentioned. If you REALLY want more bass, then a T1 would do that for you. If you go T Ref's for the fronts (I love them!!!!!), then a SC Ref or T1.R would be an absolutely perfect fit for clarity. And, frankly, a T1 would still work there well, just not quite as clear, clean, but would be another good bass source also. The Ref technology is just a step beyond.

ANY choice you make takes your current already amazing system another step up. Not sure what I'd do in your shoes, but would probably lean toward the Ref side of the equation and be thinking about T Ref's for fronts, SC Ref or T1.R for center a bit more than placing a 7th T1 at the center if I was happy with the bass I had already, and I am a bass head. But if I were looking for more bass fill as a first priority, then I'd want a T1 at center. Just thinking out loud.

Hope that helps.

Happy listening!

Rick

I would get a SuperCenter Reference for the center channel and use the Triton 1s as front wides and surrounds. My rationale is that the center channel is used for dialog, and increase is clarity is the most important feature. The SuperCenter Reference is loaded with mid-bass woofers.

I started with Triton Ones as fronts and SuperCenter XXL as the center. I upgraded to Triton Refs as fronts and the SuperCenter Reference as the center. It was a noticeable increase in clarity.

I wish I could use my Triton Ones as surrounds, but unfortunately, my loveseat is only about a foot away from the side wall. (My living room is not less than 11' wide.)
Spkr (GoldenEar): (L/R) Triton Reference; (C) SuperCenter Reference; (LS/RS) SuperSat 50;
AVR: Yamaha Aventage RX-A3040; Amp: (LCR): Parasound Halo A31; Blu-Ray (4K): Oppo UDP-203;
TV: Sony xbr75z9d; Sony xbr65z9d RCA Interconnects: BetterCables Silver Serpent
