Hi, I was using a Marantz AV7705 with my Emotiva Amps for my T-refs Speakers
in my Cinema, until the Marantz Quit on me.

I was thinking of getting the Emotiva XMC-2 to replace the Marantz.
I am done with Marantz as this is now the second one to die.
The previous one was the AV7703.

So, is anyone using one of the Emotiva processors with good results?

Have you considered the yamaha pre/pro units. CX-a5200 and MX-a5200

If reliability is a factor I agree that Yamaha is a good choice for movies. I have a cxa5200 pre with emotiva xpa5 gen 2 amps. Good combination for my t ref and ref centre combo

I've been running an XMC-1 for, gee, a whole bunch of years with my GE stonehenge setup . I give the XMC-1 a solid A. Sound quality is fantastic. For amps, I'm running 3 XPA-1 gen 2's for R/C/L and XPA-1Ls for surrounds and rears. Very very happy with the GE/Emo combination.

It has been very reliable for me. I upgraded the HDMI board myself and it worked flawlessly.

I did have one issue a couple of years ago where I applied a firmware update and it bricked the XMC-1. Emotiva customer service was outstanding. They paid for shipping - I sent them the bricked XMC-1, they restored it and sent it right back. I was out of pocket for maybe 10 days. They also immediately took down the firmware update from their website to avoid bricking any other customers (apparently I was the 2nd). They had a fix a week later

I've heard the XMC-2, RMC-1 and -1L had some firmware issues early on but they've been fixed. I've been thinking for upgrading - Emo has a very generous trade in program for XMC-1 owners. But it seems atmos really isn't worth the investment. The tech appears to be great, but the actual content is so little that there's not much to be had. Apparently, Hollywood isn't as committed to it as they might like us to believe. But, if I were shopping anew, I'd seriously consider the XMC-2 or one of the RMCs.

Thanks for the solid info.

I received my Emo RMC-1L back in December, and I marvel over
the improvement in sound compared to my Marantz AV7704.

The only thing is that the unit is a tad buggy. Sometimes the remote
locks up and I have to reboot the unit by unplugging the power.
And when I switch to my cable box input, have to turn the cable
box off and then back on for the Emo to recognize the cable box.

Even sometimes when I turn on the unit from the standby position,
it goes through the start up procedure and reboots all over.

Emotiva says they are aware the firmware is glitchy and will address
it with the update soon. And they will release the Dirac Live automatic
room correction system soon.

Congrats!! Emo will get the bugs worked out eventually. They're pretty good with firmware updates.

I've never liked the remote - big brick w/no ergo design. But I've never had a functional issue. I was really disappointed to see the same remote used with the new pre/pros.

Re reboot, check the settings for standby mode - my XMC-1 has a video stays on vs low power mode. Low power mode guarantees a full reboot ever time, which takes a good minute plus.

Re recognizing your cable box - about 1/2 the time, I get a 'no source found' message on my projector. I change the input channel and it resyncs things. Mostly I watch my comcast cable box and my roku. Toggling between them usually works. Occasionally I do have to reboot - maybe once a month. Not really sure whether its my XMC-1 or my projector.

FWIW, in low power mode, the full reboot everytime always sees the former channel w/o having to toggle. So its toggle channels vs waiting for the full reboot. Toggling is faster.
