Hi all. I just moved to a new home (built in '95) and unfortunately it isn't wired like my previous home was for surround sound. I used 5 HTR7000's in my previous family room with an SVS SB-2000 driven by a Pioneer SC-81 and they were fantastic! I'm trying to figure out what I should do for sound in the new family room (I need to figure out the basement too, but I'll start another thread on that when I get to it...I took the 5 HTR7000s and 4 MPXs from the old house before moving out!).

The main family room is an open floorplan that opens into the kitchen, but the carpeted part is ~14'w x 16'd and the ceiling is slanted, starting at 12' on one side and goes up really high on the other (my guess is 25', I'll measure later). The TV will be mounted on the wall side that is 25' high. My first problem is trying to figure out what I should do for surrounds, since the basement is finished and I don't think I can feed wires to the surrounds (fireplace on one side, so I don't think I can hide the wires). And there are big windows on the surround side, making it harder to mount something -- definitely can't use my existing GE in-wall/ceiling speakers. I might be able to go outside the house, but that will require running conduit, and going around a fireplace and deck to get to the back-side. Not sure how feasible that is.

So here are my questions. Are there any wireless options that I could put in the rears to drive something like a SuperSat 3 from my SC-81? Or should I be looking for something else altogether? I'm not 100% sure what I'll do for fronts, but my wife doesn't want floor speakers. Would just getting a SuperCinema 3D Array X (just a 60" TV in there) paired with the SB-2000 suffice and make me happy? The basement is where we'll do serious movie watching, but we still watch enough TV and movies and games in the family room that we really enjoyed having the 5.1 system. Should I just go the "easy" way out and get a Sonos 5.1 system and ditch my receiver? Or would the SuperCinema 3D be better?

Any advice would be great! I love the GEs I had in the old house, but I'm open to all options to make it work!

Honestly, the best recommendation to offer is get a GoldenEar dealer involved if you have one near you. They can come see the actual room and make much more informed recommendations. We don't have any wireless options but perhaps Sonos does in a home theater setup?
