I just bought a house with kind of an odd family / TV room. I'm trying to figure out what would work the best and make my wife the happiest.

According to my wife my options are basically limited to wall mounted or in-ceiling speakers. In my current house we have a supercinema 3D array XL for LRC and two Invisa 650s handling rear speaker duty. Just a simple 5.1 system (ForceField 5 handling sub duty). We love how well this works and how minimal it is. I was going to put three HTR7000s in the front, but the room wasn't deep enough to provide the proper angle so we went with the soundbar. We might just move this system to the new house, but I'm curious if you think something else would work better here.

If you take a look at the pictures below you can see the room. First of all, assume that the funky tetris wooden stuff will all be ripped out. I'm not putting the TV in a tiny box by the fireplace. I want to put the TV on the giant blank wall to the left of wall that has the fireplace (the wall you see in the bottom photo). Given the size of that wall I am tempted to even run a projector, ceiling mounted or possibly wall mounted in the back of the room. That means wall mounted speakers would be trickier because the screen could potentially cover up the speakers depending on what size you make it and I would have to put the wall mounted speakers really far apart, which might look odd. I can wall mount the supercinema array down low, but that might look odd too with nothing else on the wall.

I don't live in this house yet so I haven't taken measurements. My rough estimate is that the ceiling is 12-14 foot high. That is higher than the 7-10 feet the manual for the HTR7000 says. I think the couch would only be about 13-15 feet back so I'm worried that once again I would have a geometry problem that would prevent the HTRs from working.

Right now I'm leaning toward trying to get the HTR7000s to work, but I'm also tempted to put the MPXs in the wall for the LFR channels. Am I going to be as happy with this sound as I was the SuperCinema array for home theater duties? I'm not ordering anything until I get a chance to measure the dimensions of the room, but I'm curious what people think, or what they would do if they had a room like the one in the photos below.

Thanks ahead of time!

Hello,
Sounds like an interesting option to go with 7000s. Lots of posts on this recently. If I had more room I would have considered this for myself. Moderator will likely have more specific recommendations and there is a lot on "lifestyle in visa" setup but it seems to greatly depend on your geometry and seating position and personal preferences.
One thing I did learn, if you do a projector, you can do the speakers behind the screen so don't let that stop you!

Nice Space. In answer to "will it sound as good as my 3D Array?", Yes, absolutely. But if you're happy with your 3D Array setup, maybe just start there for your new space?

Without knowing exact dimensions it is hard to tell if the Invisa HTR 7000 for L/C/R would be possible, but based on your numbers I would agree with you, not going to work. Certainly the Invisa MPX in-wall is a great option if you want to do in-walls (it will require running wires through existing walls, which may not be "easy").
