To be fair I had my Maggies in a 2ch only setup. I owned a pair of MMGs and because of them, almost bought a pair of 1.7s as such I spent quite a bit of time with them at the dealer.

On center channel localization, I've found it to be less of an issue with larger screens. My CC is below my screen. But I have a 70" TV and a 110" drop down screen. It never sounds like dialog is coming from below the screen.

Interesting. My screen is currently a 138" diagonal and center localization became more prevalent the larger I went.

Also to be said, I've never been a big fan of Magnepan's center channel offerings. Always seemed to be the weak link in their speakers.

Yeah, Magnepan makes great speakers. They were actually on my short list with the GEts but home theater is a LARGE priority for me and I feel the Maggie centers are weak as well and their surrounds are just too large for what you get out of them IMO (e.g. frequency response wise).

sthomps and imahawki,

I completely agree with you both. I listened to Maggie's when I chose the T1s. GET does such an amazing job in their product range. There are so many options and their drivers are so similar from model to model that building a home theater with very cohesive sound is easy to accomplish in just about any room. Magnepan seems to specialize in 2-channel, or at least music, and home theater seems more of an after thought. I was also told that Maggie's were a lot for finicky about placement which was another big strike. In the end, I also preferred the sound of the T1s. It was a winning proposition all the way around for me.

Regarding multiple centers, unless you have an acoustically transparent screen and will be placing the center behind it, Moderator Dude actually recommended an above and below the screen solution for multiple centers. He made it sound as though he or GET had tested this theory and the over under was the way to go. Just a little something to consider. I've thought about this possibility as well since I may end up with 2 center channels when I upgrade to the SCXXL.

Cheers,

T Cobe

Do you happen to have a link or additional info to the multiple center information from Moderator Dude?

I'm going to layout the wiring in my new house and need to nail down speaker locations in the home theater.

Thanks

Sthomps,

I'm sorry, I don't recall what thread that was buried in. It was some time ago. I tried a quick search on the forum's tools and couldn't find it either. If you have a list of questions, you should include them here. Moderator Dude is always watching/reading and is very good about responding.

Cheers,
