Hi all, any reputable dealer will allow you as much time as you need to make a decision on a purchase of this amount. If not leave!! It is worth the time. Take your own music and movie tracks you are familiar with. It will make the decision easier. In my experience when you hear familiar tracks in a way that makes you think to yourself "WOW that never sounded that good before" then you have found what your looking for. Demo several high end speakers and look for the WOW factor!! The T1's did it for me. My dealer has a great demo setup. 16 rooms with different manufacturers. Most are HT system demo's but the music room had all the powered towers and the 7s. He set me in a chair in the sweet spot and I listened to all of them. Once I listened to the T1's the WOW factor was clear. I bought them on the spot. Now that I think about they were using NAD equipment to drive them.
For reference I demo'd B&W, Def Tech(not the STL, no one had any I could find) Polk Audio, Martin Logan, Bose and Klipsch. 1st runner up was the B&W CM10 but without reservations the Triton 1 was better all around. I spent about a month listening to all these, I talked with the B&W dealer after I bought the GE speakers to thank him for his help and he told me he would do the same:)
Get well and take your time choosing.
P.S. go listen while you don't have the money. You cant make a bad choice when you cant buy. Sleep on it and then go back to the ones that really stand out.
Enjoy the ride!!
