Is it possible to purchase the T1 or T2s with the wire mesh grill that I see GE use @ trade shows?

Yes, they are all that way when you take their pants off

Those are "show" static models that have been dressed up to look nice with their socks off for show and tell at trade shows. In use, they are designed to have the sock on, and they sound best (for multiple reasons) with the grille socks in place.
