Sloppy - the sales team would like to know what dealer gave you the bad demo, would you mind calling the office (410-998-9134) and letting us know? That way we can help them so the next interested Triton customer won't be disappointed. Thanks.

Hi Guys,
You have tagged it exactly: I set up a surround sound system PRIMARILY to play music the best I can, and then I reckon movies will sound great too. When I watch a movie, a LOT of times, IF the movie is good I get caught up and into the movie (which would not happen as well without a great surround sound) and forgets about listening.
When listening to music, that sometimes happens too, but these days, while trying to get my system set up right, I am all about listening as critically as I can. That is why I listen to Norah Krall and other stuff that I would normally never listen to. ha ha
Sloppy, you are in good hands if you listen to guys like the Moderator Dude and Anthem.
Me, I would put the Aon 3 in for center speaker if I could fit it, and 4 Aon 3s (or Tritons IF I could afford them) in the rear, Triton 2s up front and Forcefield 5s in both corners!!!!
God Bless,
Rock on guys,
God Bless,
Wayne

So I ended up ordering a pair of AON 3's and an Anthem MRX 300.

Main reason I went this way is because it will give me more flexibility in the future, I could move them to the rear for surrounds when I get the tritons, or I could even move them to a seperate room if I decided I wanted SS3's for surrounds.

I ordered this equipment thru the first dealer (the one with the not so impressive demo). I went thru them because there is only 2 dealers within a reasonable distance, and this was the only one that dealt with both Anthem and Goldenear.

When I went back to this dealer for a second listen of the tritons, they moved them into a better listening room which made a pretty big improvement.

I'm 28 years old, and the only speakers I have owned were entry level, and made to produce large amounts of uncontrolled bass. They pounded pretty good, but the bass was just all over the place and so undefined, and I realize this now after listening to the tritons. I think my ears were just tuned to expect so much exaggeration in bass, that when I listen to something that is much more controlled and accurate I felt it was lacking, but clearly it was just my ears and what I was used to hearing.

So excited to get these speakers, after listening to these tweeters, I just cant listen to anything else.

Down the road I will probably be getting the Supercenter XL and deciding whether I want a Forcefield 5/triton 7 combo or just the triton 2's. Cant wait for that decision.

P.S. does anyone else have to refresh the damn entry code at the bottom a dozen times? I can never read what letters they are trying to show LOL.

Thanks for reading.

Hey Sloppy,
You made a great decision man!!!!! I think you are gonna love the system you are getting/putting together.
And will love it for many years to come, can be in many different configurations.
You are well along the way to sonic Nirvana. You are a much better listener and more sensible than most 28 year olds, I am impressed!!!!!
Happy listening!!!!!
And please continue to let us know how it is going and how you like the tunes?????
God Bless,
Wayne

Hi Everyone,

I received the AON 3's already, but I cancelled the order of the Anthem MRX 300 and pre-ordered the MRX 510. The upgrades Anthem made to the new model receivers appear to be significant, so I decided to go with the new model even though I have to wait a few weeks to get it.
I hope the wait is worth it! It's driving me crazy listening to my tv speakers while my AONS are just sitting there. This is going to be the longest few weeks of my life.

Hey Sloppy,
I went to the Anthem website and read a bit about it, and it looks like you are making a good decision.

Hang in there, I feel sure your patience will be rewarded.

Enjoy, as soon as you can, God Bless,
Wayne
