There have been a number of thunderstorms recently. I have been pulling the plugs on my Ones but would like better protection...if it does not negatively affect sound quality. I don't really know how Class D amplifiers work, but I imagine that the Ones might soak up a lot of power. If true, this would affect any kind pf protective device placed upstream of the speakers.

Any thoughts on this subject?

Discussed in other threads on this forum, but the short answer is you do not need additional filtering or protection. If you feel you must, you can use the average max continuous power consumption when choosing a device - about 600 watts on a Triton One. In terms of sonic degradation, shouldn't be an issue s long as the device does not introduce any noise into the circuit.

Each of my two Triton Ones is plugged in to a surge protector with backup battery capability (although the batteries no longer hold a charge, thus I am utilizing only the surge protection capability in the units). I have experienced no issues with hum or any other noticeable sound impairments.

Wouldn't the max draw on the amp be higher given that the RMS amplifier power is probably a lot more than 600 watts?

Probably OK for your other hifi gear, may not be appropriate for Tritons though due to power rating.
