OK, so I'm new to Goldenear but have finally settled on a pair of the Triton 3+s as my R/L and a SuperCenter XL as my C. Now I need to worry about surrounds. Because of the WAF, I think I'm going with the Invisa series, which is why I'm posting here.

If I go with a 7-channel setup, the budget pretty much only allows for the 650s (total about $1200 at MSRP).

If I go with a 5-channel setup, I could hypothetically go with 2 MPXs, which cost slightly less (about $1000 at MSRP).

Room layout is attached - but basically the room is 16.5' X 14'. The screen is on the 16.5' wall. The sofa is on the wall opposite the TV, but is pushed into a corner. Any Invisas we get will be installed into the ceiling.

Anyone have any tips? Thanks in advance - looking forward to the new setup!

Welcome to the forum! Sounds like you have a good plan sketched out. Have you listened to the T3s yet? Another thought would be to go with 2 of the 650s in a 5.1 configuration and upgrade to the T2+ for your front left and right channels.

You definitely have some space constraints for the surrounds. I think Moderator Dude or even your local dealer/custom installer would be best to answer this one. I can't imagine going more than 5.1 with that setup. I'll be curious to hear what is recommended and how things come together for you. Please keep us posted as you move along.

Thanks for the reply! And I was actually thinking about going 5.1 with the 650s to spend more money elsewhere. Any opinions on whether an upgrade to the 2+s is more meaningful than an upgrade to the SuperCenter XXL?

Oh, and neglected to mention before - The theater will be used almost exclusively for video - barely any dedicated music playback.

The full setup is about $4500 at my dealer. Am I using the money the best way? Or should I reallocate some cash among speakers?

If your using the setup almost exclusively for home theater, then the SCXXL is probably your most important investment. From there, you have many options. The T3+ or the T5 would both be fine choices. I would probably lean towards the T5s, but it really is a matter of personal preference. If you go with the T5s, you will need to add a subwoofer like a ForceField4 or 5. Going with a dedicated sub will give you more options for optimal placement and it will probably dig a little deeper than the T3 sub section.

Just a few thoughts to consider. Ultimately, listen to as many options as you can and decide what is best for you. It's your money and your room. Your opinion is what matters most! Let us know what you decide and how things work out, please.

Based on your room, I would go 5.1 and skip 7.1. All sound that would normally go to the 7.1 rears gets moved to the 5.1 surrounds anyway. Combine that with your room size and the fact the the couch is up against the wall makes 5.1 more ideal in my opinion.

Good advice all around. I would opt for Invisa MPX surrounds in a 5.1 configuration. The Triton Three+ vs Two+ is all about your volume requirements. If the Three+ gets you the levels you want, the bigger center is a great place to spend any extra dollars.
