I have a media room in my new house that has stairway that really offsets the room. To combat this im offsetting the screen, triton 2's, etc. The hardest part is I Have 2 rows of 2 person couches (8 total seating) and there is no way for me to use side firing speakers. The couches on the "bottom wall" in the diagram are really pressed against the wall.

- Any speakers for the sides would have to be overhead.
- They could be 12" off the wall but closer the better.
- The rears are easier to use HTR 7000 or maybe Invisia MPX

Im wondering if I should use:

Sides: Invisia MPX, HTR 7000 or 650s (maybe?)
Rear: Invisia MPx, HTR 7000

Hey Tritonboca,

Assuming you are trying for a traditional 7.1 (not a Dolby atmos) system, I think the 7000s would be an excellent choice! They will throw the sound downwards helping hide the fact that they are in the ceiling and not in the walls.

How tall is your celing though? It might influence the decision.

It may not sound ideal for the 2 people on (the bottom of your image), but for the other 6 it'll sound fantastic! But with the ability to rotate the tweeter, it might be possible to help widening with some adjustments; hopefully your dealer can help you out with that.

I'd consider moving your side speakers forward a bit between the 2 rows of seating to also help widen the sweet spot.

Sounds like a fantastic set-up. I can't wait to see pictures when it's finished! *hint hint*

Thank you for your comments, will be happy to share pics!

The ceiling is about 8 feet on the sides (fur downs) but I'm confused about the htr sending sound down. In fact I was under the impression that it is more directional (angled). Am I wrong?

The HTR 7000 are angled (30 degrees) to create the impression the sound is coming from in front rather than from above, but this does requires a certain geometry be maintained that does not look possible (definitely not for the surrounds, perhaps for the rears).

As Dark mentioned, the MPX in-walls would seem to be a good choice for all four. Positioning them all slightly above highest ear level would be preferred, and it also leaves the Atmos height channels option open for you in the future.
