Hello
I'm about 60 hours into breaking-in the Triton 3+, or as a dealer described them to me as the ugly stepchild of the Triton's. (I could not afford the Two+). Currently I find the speakers need a bout an hour running before they are sounding their best in the morning, like me. Does this time get reduced over time?

Hi Paul

I would guess it’s not the speakers that benefit from the warm up so much as the receiver or pre and amp. I find the same thing. Amps, transistors, DAC’s etc. do get warmer sounding after warm up I believe. That’s open to debate by forum members, but that has been my experience also no matter how long the speakers or gear have broken in IMO.

I usually turn the system on awhile in advance of a listening session to allow warmup. Some folks leave amps etc. on 24/7.

You’re apt to get a range of opinions on this, but 60 hours of break in should have your speakers pretty settled in.

Happy listening!

100% agree with Rick. The only thing I might add, give the T3's 100 solid hours of play time, after that, no further improvements will be heard. Throwing caution to the wind, try leaving your equipment on for 24 hrs and see how that sounds. If it sounds better, you'll know it's the equipment warmup time that needs to be addressed.

Happy listening!

Thank you for responses

I have always left my electronics on 24/7. Of course that does not mean they do not warm up while playing. It's not that big of a deal and may just be me in that I listen more closely once it has been playing. Anyway they are already impressing the crap out of me. I look forward to permanent placement after 100 hours of break-in. I'm getting the impression that room size is important in terms of the Triton 2 or triton 3. I have plenty of volume with no ill effects of playing the three pluses loudly. It seems I have on of the first of the lot as well, they were manufactured 12/2016.

Thanks
Paul

How loud are you playing the system as you break it in? Low volume helps a bit but it will be hard to ever achieve full break-in unless the drivers, tweeters and crossovers get a wideband signal at a relatively high level, too. High enough to give everything a good workout but not so much as to damage anything. Think three or four volume knob clicks back from driving you out of the room. 100 hours or so of that should do it. And if you want, you can run a shortened version of the break-in routine once every 6 months or so (maybe 20-25 hours), but it may not be necessary after first full break-in.

Tara Labs has a freebie break-in file you can download from their website and there may be others. If you can find it, the Boston Rally Bass Collection has some bass that will definitely give your woofers a workout. www.discogs.com/Various-The-Boston-Rally...ion-/release/4930448

What others have said holds true, too. Electronics warm-up time for best sound seems to take an hour or so after power-up. YMMV on all of this - that's part of the hobby's fun!

Hello
I had been using music only at a fairly decent volume. I can tell you that after using the Tara Labs for an hour, image focus has improved a good deal. I guess I will be using that for the remaining of the break-in.

Thanks
