Hi,

Just placed the order for the Anthem MRX 720 Amp. Would be getting this in 15 days. I wanted to know what should be the crossover settings for the Triton One when used with the Anthem MRX 720 AMP in a two channel stereo setup. Is there any other settings that should be looked into when setting this up.

Lastly, is the Anthem MRX 720 a good enough Amp to drive the Triton One.

Thanks
Girish

Girish,

Congrats on the new receiver! That should work out well. Are you running it and your Triton 1s for just a stereo system (2-channel) or is it in a home theater? In either case, I would turn the crossover off and run full range sound through the T1s. If it's just for stereo music, ne need for a sub/LFE cable either. You can simply adjust the gain knob to your desired level of bass. I find the bass more musical in my setup with the music coming in just on the speaker level inputs. I've been reading through the owners manual for the 1120 and AVM 60 and will say that these units are more complicated to configure than usual. Hopefully you're dealer is local and can assist you. The manuals for the Anthems are a little light on content and they don't have a forum... :)

Whether or not the Anthem is enough is really a matter of personal preference. I'm sure it will sound great. Is there room to improve, sure. From my experience, the sky is the limit for the T1s. The more you invest in better equipment, the better they sound; however, most of us don't have enough money laying around for the Pass Labs amps that GET uses during their trade show events. Enjoy your new Anthem for a while and if you feel you want a little more juice, consider adding and external amp. The Anthem should make a great pre-amp for external amplification. Happy listening!

Cheers,

T Cobe

I agree with T Cobe. No need to try and tweak the crossover points. In fact, I'll go as far as to say the crossovers set by GET - which if I'm not mistaken the frequencies are not officially public information - is set "exactly perfect" at the factory. Seriously, one of the hallmarks I find in the T1s is they are so smooth they sound like one contiguous speaker without any crossover(s) at all. I'd have to think there is no way it can be improved by changing it, especially externally.

Hi,

Thanks all for the quick reply. My understanding was also the same. But my confusion arose when during the demo the person showing me the system changed the crossover setting to 120 from 100 (set for B&W speakers) and on my enquiry told me that different speakers need different crossover settings.

But now things are clear Thanks once again

Sounds like another unfortunate example of either a bad store setup or an uninformed salesperson, or both. Sorry, glad the forum group could set it straight for you. If you'd like to PM me with the name of the dealer, I can have someone on our sales training team try to "help" them.

Enjoy your new speakers.
