I've tried getting advice on other forums but no luck yet.

As you can see my ht area is smaller and not very good with a wall next to one of mains.

I currently have all HSU bookshelfs with TWO hsu VTF3 MK5's.

I feel I'm good in bass department - flat down to 16hz with plenty of output.

But I'm hoping higher end speakers will make movies sound more amazing. I'll eventually get aon3's for surrounds and ss xl for center.

I wish I had more mid bass impact and the better sound.

Do you think Triton 5 or 7 would be best for me?

I was going to but triton 5 today but I went to local dealer and he doesn't have them inexplicably. I asked when he would get and he said they wouldn't. I'd have to give $1000 and they would order. What a bummer. He has 1, 2 and 7's.

I really want to get speakers now, I'm not big on waiting. Since I have stellar subs, are the 5's overkill? Would the 7's give me better sound and mid Bass? Or should I hold out for the 5's? I'm really irritated they won't carry 5's. That makes no sense to me.

DaveyMac,

Welcome to the forum. Sorry to hear that your local dealer was not more helpful. If cost is not a consideration and both are in your budget, I'd definitely recommend the T5s. While only listened to them once for a short time, they sounded better than the T7s. A few other members here that purchased the T5s found the same. Honestly, you could go with the T7s, Aon 3s, or Aon 2s and they would all sound great.

Do you have another GET dealer within driving distance? My guess is that the T5s are going to sell like hot cakes. They may be tough to get and/or hold onto but that's no excuse to flat out tell you what they did with no explanation. I'm not sure how they expect to sell a speaker they don't carry and will only special order.

Let us know what you decide and how things work out. Happy hunting!

Cheers,

T Cobe

Thank you. I'm already bumping myself. Maybe they would sell me their in-stock, show floor twos for a discount. I know this is stupid question, but twos would be even better than fives, right? I'd hate to get twos and find out I made a mistake over fives somehow. Again, I have great subs, and I know twos cost has a lot to do with subs, but if price was or size wasn't considered - twos will be better, yes?
**since I mainly want more mid bass, the fives don't somehow have more than twos do they?

DaveyMac,

Choosing between the Two and the Fives is a matter of preference. I'd suggest listening to both so you can form your own opinion on the matter. I find the mids a bit recessed in the Twos but that is just me. You could compare the Twos and the Sevens to see how you perceive the sound. Be sure to turn down the gain on the Twos so that your not biased towards the fuller low end. If you prefer the Twos, you may have your answer.

Hopefully others will provide their input as well but I would lean towards the Fives since you have you low end covered. This really is splitting hairs, though as both are great speakers. Are there any othe GET dealers within an hour or two drive? I still think a first hand listen would be worthwhile.

Cheers,

T Cobe

Ok great, I assumed twos would be as good or better across the board. If fives potentially give more mid bass, then I'll have to hold out :(

Glad I asked, thx!

I'd let some others give their input before you decide and suggest you go back and listen to the Twos. Did you spend much time with them? My opinion is just one and there are many members here that are extremely happy with their Twos. In th end its about what sounds best to you.

Cheers,

T Cobe
