In the recent review at Sound and Vision, the -3dB point was 49Hz. I think a 50Hz crossover may be a good starting point but full may sound excellent as well.

Glad you're going this route. I think you're going to love them. Please let us know how they sound and look in place of the HSU bookshelf speakers.

Cheers,

T Cobe

DaveyMac,
You will have to play with the settings (and sub locations) to get the best sound.
It is impossible for me to say for your room and your system and your ears.
You MIGHT try running the speakers SMALL and crossover 40 Hz, just to let the subs take over where they can obviously play better than the Tritons. And try 80 Hz as well, as most people would set them.
Not sure what will work best, but I am sure you can find something that sounds great. I never had ANY luck with Audyssey room correction at all, that is one reason why I am trading out my pre-processor for one that has DIRAC room correction. It is my room that is messing up my bass, I THINK.
All the best on getting it setup and running smoothly.
God Bless,
Wayne

Been there. I auditioned the sevens and was going to get a nice discount on them since they were floor models.

I walked out with the fives.

Wait, dude. Good things come for those who wait.
Play it loud.

They sound crazy good! Big improvement over HSUs. It's like those two channels are more impressive now, like a movie theater. I'm pretty excited to replace center pretty soon also.

And my listening area is awful. I have to sit about 40% farther away than they are apart. :(

I think I've settled on 60 crossover.

Congrats, DaveyMac!!! How are your mids now? With those tweeters and mid-range drivers combined with those subs, I bet it sounds larger than life. I think sitting further away is better than too lose and I'd bet the imaging is still rock solid. I look forward to hearing more. A matching SCXL will certainly solidify your front end.

Cheers,

T Cobe

Larger than life would be a good description. I've never heard speakers that sound so realistic. When something happens in a movie, where most of the sound comes from one of them - it's sounds spot on, like real life.

The imaging as you put it, is what really impresses me. I can play music stero and the vocals sound like they are coming from a center channel. It is VERY cool.

I was playing test tones out of my denon level match screen. And this is funny, but the pink noise sounds fuller out of those two channels, I can only imagine how HT will improve as I replace all my channels with GE.
