Hi Guys,
What are your thoughts on Emotiva's XSS X Series Speaker Cable. Anyone of you running your Triton's on these.

Taken from their web site:
Solid brass machined ends with 3 micron thick gold plating.
Dual-twisted, 10 gauge, high strand count oxygen-free copper conductors.
Strand Count: 455 x 2.
Interchangeable tips: banana plugs or spades (4 of each included with every cable).
Diecast, non-ferrous metal alloy breakout collar for added support.
Nylon braided anti-scuff jacket over PVC outer insulator.
Sold individually.
I want to replace my AudioQuest Quad Helix cable and thinking about the XSS.
Let me know your thoughts on this.
Thanks Man!!!

Hey Fried One,
Having never heard music played through these cables, I can only offer these guidelines:
There are too many Xs and Ss in the name.
IF Strand count is anything like thread count in sheets, my daughter says they don't have enough.
They are too cheap. Good cables cost more than that.
I hope this helps, but PROBABLY NOT!!!!
God Bless you, whatever you choose.
I talk to a sensible guy named Frank at Signal Cables, not as silly as I am and not as expensive as a LOT are.
But might not be your cup of tea.
I got his silver resolution cables, not too expensive for what I got, IMHO.

I am not connected with them in ANY way.
Blessings,
Wayne
God bless the child that's got his own.

Mr. fried...I have the Emotiva speaker cables of which you speak. I saw your post last night, and got to thinking I haven't heard them in awhile so retrieved them from my stereo gear closet this morning and hooked them up. First impressions... the highs were extended and never sounded overly bright. As for the bass...somewhat lackluster, it just didn't have the slam of some of my other cables, but not to worry. Normally I set the sub volume control to the 9:30 position, so to compensate for the lack of bass I cranked her up to the 10:30-11:00 position... problem solved. The bass is now fuller with much better slam and I'm hearing more clarity in complex passages. I'm going to leave these cables in place for awhile and see if they grow on me...cheap can be a good thing, they might surprise you.

In regards to dear Bro. Wayne's statement about silver cables. Emotiva amps are very detailed and when combined with highly revealing speaker cables, the results can be a disaster when played through a high velocity tweeter such as the Tritons. I've tried some MapleShade Clear view Double Helix Plus Version cables, which are very close to silver, the bass was rock solid but the highs were overly extended bordering on shrill...I don't think silver cables are your best option. I personally get some of my best sound from 20 year old 12 gauge Radio Shack cables (hide your ears Wayne). Listened for 4 hours yesterday at relatively high volumes and literally had a blast.

You don't have to spend large sums on speaker cables to have great sound, you just need synergy between all components, and for some of us, it takes a lifetime.

Give Emotiva a try, you have nothing to lose...and if I'm not mistaken, they have a 30 day money back guarantee.

Anthem,
How are you. What a great response to my post. I actually don't want to spend an arm and a leg on a set of cables right now. I have made some very recent purchases so looking at the X Series seems like a good plan for me right now. My present cables are from AudioQuest. Their Quad Helix solid cables. They sound quite good. The ends are unfinished and bare. I just wanted to dress up my Triton's in something finished and good looking. The XSS looks quite nice and well finished. And for just under $200 (currency conversion +S&H) for a pair of 2m cables with finished banana ends sounds pretty good. Hence my question to get some real opinions on their performance. So I thank you for taking the time to swap out your cables and giving these a listen to again. You response sounds promising. I am hoping not to return them for a refund as I don't reside in the States. Hopefully I will be satisfied with their sound.
Happy Listening!!
Cheers!
