Hi wayne. Goldenear Aon3 are the best sounding bookshelf i have ever heard that can easily beat some floorstanders of more established brands like Monitor Audio Rx6,RS6; Polk RTI A7 or even A9 and even High end Dali Models. Its such a fun BS to have because it is not even hard to drive at 8ohms. Its main pluses are very good midbass and detailed highs but not too tiring to listen to. Pair it with a very good subwoofer and it becomes an awesome HT system. Audition it yourself and get to listen to its amazing sound.
Hope this helps. Come down Manila so u could listen to it yourself.

Hi vgsison,
I agree with you about how good the Aon 3s are. And thanks for the invitation to Manila, I would love to come. And love to hear music on your setup.
I have heard the Aon 3 demoed in an audio shop in S'pore, but they played them with speakers on both sides, all around (they can't sound their best that way). AND they would not admit that they needed subwoofer help. [Of course when you demo speakers you need to hear what they can do on their own]
YES, I feel sure they are great Bookshelf speakers, but c'mon, bookshelf speakers, by nature, need to be mated with a well integrated sub. IMHO.
Looks like you have them set up right. Also looks like you have 2 subs, is that right? Which ones, if I may ask? How does the system sound? Do you have the subs crossed over at 80hz or higher?
Thanks for sharing!!!!

Thanks for the compliment about my setup. Yes I have dual subwoofers setup. Those are 2 SVS PB1000s and they sound awesome paired with Aon3. My listening room happens to be my living room with a very high ceiling of about 2 storey high but both Aon 3 and SVS can fill up my room. My sofa is about 12 feet away from the speakers. Frequency cut off is at 90hz - 120hz depending on how great the bluray movie is recorded.
Hope you have one soonest.

Thanks vgsison,
Since I don't have 2 subs like you, I am planning to go with the Triton towers instead of the Aon 3s. Even then, I will have a sub to fill in the very bottom frequencies.
Do you find the Aons work better with 2 subs? Did you try them with one? Seems like I read before that you had one sub in the corner of the room, or maybe I just misunderstood.
Music is my main concern, and I have never been able to get my sub to mate seamlessly with my speakers (but they are Apogee ribbons) so they will be retired.I am hoping that with the Triton towers I will only need one sub to fill in an octave or two at the bottom, but most everything else should be WELL COVERED by the Tritons.
IMHO if a system plays music well, it will be fine for movies/home theater.
OK, sill waiting for GE to make their way to Thailand.
Enjoy what you have, I feel sure it is a MUCH better system than a LOT of people in this world have!!!!

Wayne,
At the outset, I would have wanted to get the tritons 2 myself. But my initial budget would not allow me to buy a pair. Thru more research and more audition of both Tritons and Aon3, i realized that the tritons and Aons have the same sonic taste I am looking for. The tritons' edge are that they have active subs integrated in each tower. Nevertheless, i also realized that the integrated subs would also limit the placement flexibilities as well as the face tweaking of a seperate subwoofer. Hence. Later on I would also be longing to buy additional subs. Hence, I decided to buy the Aon 3 instead and planned on getting subwoofers later on. A few months ago i only had 1 subwoofer. But i was blessed to afford 2 SVS subs lately. Hence, the photos having 2.
Having 2 subs give me the balanced system i aspire for. I also learned that it is better to have 2 entry level subs rather than buy 1 amazing and powerful sub. Hence, I have 2. I am enjoying them very much.
I totally agree that a musical speaker like an Aon 3 can be a very good HT system. Pair it with a supersat 50c center and supersat 3 as surrounds and it would be a very pleasant HT system.
Thanks for reading.

Thanks vgsison,
I totally understand being on a budget, and having to save up to buy things we want. I am in that process right now.
And I understand your approach, though different from my plan.
Right now I have an OK subwoofer, though it is pretty old. I plan to use it until I can afford that really good, one subwoofer like you mentioned, then the old one will go to a second system, time and money permitting.
One question I have searched the internet for the answer to, you just might know or determine from your 2 sub setup:
Will two subs that only play down to say 18 hz individually, reach down lower, play lower notes together when fed the same signal????
That might sound silly, but at least part of what makes a really low playing subwoofer is the size of the speaker, the diameter. So, two 12 inch subs might be able to play lower together than the one would. Does that question make sense? Do you, or anybody reading know the answer to this?
IF so, two less expensive and smaller subs might be better than 1 larger sub.
Just a question I have been mulling.
Thanks for your thoughts.
Anyway, your system looks awesome, ENJOY!!!!!
