Ok, Mark at the Chelsea Audio store, asked if he has got a pair of Aon 2's in stock. He said, yep, fresh in the box....BUT.....they JUST got the Triton 2+ and 3+ in. No...I did not get them....wait for it!

He told me that they need to make room for the new stuff coming in and was wondering if I was interested in the Demo Aon2's for $600.00. I asked him if the pope was catholic. ....and that I would be down there in a few hours and to box them up.

I LOVED my SuperSat 3's....they DID sound great. I pulled the plugs and couldn't wait...put the banana clips in the back of the Aon2's and fired them babies up. I changed the cross over from 100 to 60, tweaked my woofer and walla....checkin these babies out.

Now, for the million dollar question. Was it worth it?

As I listen to Supertramp - Lord is it mine....its like I have a better understanding of the metal the cymbals are made of. I can hear they way his tongue is formed as he shapes the next word.

I listen to America.....and I can almost hear the name of the horse.

So to answer the question, the leap up from the SS3's to Aon2...is a considerable one. The imaging is very different. Setting the speakers in a makeshift setup, sounds better than the SS3's tweaked and dialed in.

Money exceptionally well spent.

Congrats, Roman! Great sound at a great price; it's hard to top that. If I recall, you use this same setup for PC gaming. They should make your experience even more immersive! I'm looking forward to hearing back. Happy listening and gaming.

Hi Roman, did you ever try the SS3's with the 60Hz xover? I have SS3's for my rear and surrounds, they sound good but I am wanting a little more sound out of the back of the room. I have them set to a higher volume but it's seems a little light???

Hey DT. I have tried the SS3 at all ranges from 60 to 120 Hz. With my NAD reciever, they liked to be set at 100Hz and a small speaker designation. That was where I got the best volume and just adjusted my subwoofer to blend with it. Gave me good volume.

I have SS3's on all speakers for my downstairs surround system 5.1 setup (with a FF4 sub) and they are also set at 100 Hz and it gets loud enough that my ears give up before the speakers do.

If you drop the cutoff down too low, the speaker tries to do too much work reproducing things it just cant, and you loose your volume level to keep it from distorting.

I'd definitely recommend the rear sub! I was extremely happy with the results when I added my old sub into the system. I wish it were a GET sub to better match the tone of my T1s, but that is a future upgrade. The mismatch is certainly better than without.
