You're getting lots of good advice already.

My experience is with NAD and Marantz. I had a NAD T757 (and a loaner 758 while the NAD was in the shop), and now a Marantz SR 7010. I would describe the SQ of both as really good. I favor the Marantz some as being some more "musical" sounding. I got the Marantz for the extra channels and ATMOS capability. I agree that getting a receiver with more options for "futureproofing" should be part of the decision process.

The bigger SQ difference I have heard between the NAD and the Marantz would be in the bass management area. I felt the NAD was some "shy" in sending full bass to fronts unless there was an LFE connection, and that the Marantz seemed to balance bass among all the speaker channels better.

So, yes, I favor the Marantz for all the above reasons. The 6010 you are considering (have you checked out the 6011 with two more channels?) has almost as much power as the 7010 and should be able to drive your system with ease. Neither the NAD nor the Marantz had any problem driving my HT system at reference level volumes.

Thanks, Rick! That's a very good testimonial on the differences between the NAD and Marantz. I truly deliberated a long time between the 7702A and the Anthem AVM-60 and I think I would have been happy with either. Marantz packs a lot of value in their gear.

One final observation, GET used a Marantz for their CEDIA setup this year... if they trust Marantz to deliver the goods at a big event like this, I'm confident that it will fit the bill for a home theater.

Hey guys! Thank you very much for your support and guidance. Due to your suggestions i narrowed my selection to two Models.

1- Marantz 6010
2- Onkyo RZ 900

I left the option of anthem and NAD owing to their inability to handle the latest audio formats. I also think them as obslete for now.
So guys here is the thing, both of the afforementioned AV receivers are of the same price range. I am more concerned about the low wattage of Marantz 6010. I have Triton two , super centre Xl and super sat 3, so would it be underwattage for my whole system? I suspect i may feel strain when i listen them at reference level. So whats your suggestions?

As far as Onkyo is concerned, my local dealer of Goldenear strongly recommend me to consider the onkyo as my future AVR as he considered Onkyo as the best match to goldenear. But i am suspecting he is going to sell me what he has . So who knows. So my question is, despite of the reliability issue what you guys think about goldenear with onkyo? Will you consider the onkyo z900 as the high end AVR? Would i miss any thing in quality by opting onkyo? How you guys rate the onkyo AVR in stereo format?

I know these are very subjective questions, but i cant test any AVR so i want to take the best decision out of it based on your experiences.

A little something for your consideration regarding the Onkyo. I think you're putting too much emphasis on the power ratings. Either one will reach very loud levels. It really is going to come down to an audition to see if you prefer one over the other. Let your ears guide you.

Since you are asking for personal experiences and preferences, let me say I have enjoyed Marantz and my Triton Twos for a long time.
I have heard Onkyo with the Tritons and did not like the sound AT ALL. That was at a dealer, and perhaps something was wrong there. But in my home Marantz has been the way to go until I could afford a little better (to my ears) pre-pro and separate amps.
BUT you would call my system obsolete too. ha ha I don't think I am missing anything important.
