You're entitled to your opinion, but MY ears refute your opinion. The AntiCable Reference 3 powercords have transformed my system...PERIOD
D-Sonic m3a-600m Mono > McIntosh MC152 > Primaluna ProLogue Premium Preamp > Oppo UDP205 > Decware ZLC > Triton Reference > Isoacoustics Gaia 2 > Canare 4S11 Speaker Cables > Audience Forte 3, Anticable L3 & Shunyata Venom PC's

Every great performance deserves an Audience!

I agree with Anthem. Hearing is believing. Sure, there's some "snake oil" advertising for audio equipment, including for power cords, speaker cables, interconnects, surge protectors, power conditioners, etc. etc. ...... Nothing beats a risk free trial. I loved what the first Anti-Cable did for my AVR so much (the sound just got cleaner, more detailed, more pure, "natural"), that I got a second Anti-Cable for the OPPO.

I admit that a year ago, I felt the same as Daylightdon. The thought of running 3 feet of 9 gauge cable at the end of a 50 foot run of 12-gauge Romex and expecting a difference is silly. However, it's not a matter of current but rather noise. Taking into account that our audio components even generate noise, there is a plausible explanation as to how power cables make a difference.

I haven't hooked up an o-scope to my power outlets to verify, but I also hear a difference. Label it as a noise filter or placebo, it makes no difference to me. I'm not advocating anyone spend a $1,000 on a power cable and I wouldn't advise anyone to put a $500 cable on a $1,000 speaker, but this upgrade is worth trying. I spent a conservative $50 on each 1 meter cable for my 2-channel setup. The cosmetics and quality of the cable alone were worth the price of admission. The fact that there is a noticeable improvement to my sound is icing on the cake.

My advice to anyone is to try it for yourself. Make sure you test cables that offer a money back guarantee. If you don't like the cable, return it. I would start with the 10% rule and allocate the appropriate amount of money. you would be better served buying T2s than putting thousand dollar cables on a pair of T3s. IMO, it's a late upgrade once you have your equipment worked out first. As always, spend the most you can on the best speakers you can afford first. I respect everyone's opinions on this controversial topic and these are just mine. To each their own.

Cheers,

T Cobe

VERY well said, T Cobe!

Every system is different, every person's listening preference is different, any new component (power cord or otherwise) will have a different impact on different systems... nothing beats a risk free trial. IMHO also, power cords do SOMETHING to reduce/control the digital noise generated by the component they're connected to, maybe even make it more analog sounding (as opposed to power conditioners, that reduce any noise in the feed line in). Everything serves a purpose, and as you said, sensible apportioning of one's budget (best speakers in budget reach come first) is a great rule of thumb.

I also count myself among the early doubters, not only of power cords, but also of upgraded speaker cables and interconnects, UNTIL I tried them. Somewhere along the line, Moderator Dude has said "it's more than just the speakers". He's so right, but I think we all agree that it DOES start with great speakers, and THAT part of any experimenting has led me to GEt, and there I plan to stay.
