I notice a 'vibration/buzz like sound coming from one of my t2's during loud deep bass passages. I initially though it might be something on a nearby table vibrating, but getting up close to the t2, I heard the sound coming from the general area of one of the passive radiators.

After calling my dealer, I popped the top and opened the fabric sock, pushing down the the bottom of the tower to take a look while playing. Turns out there is a rigid panel mounted on the center of the radiator, held in place by a screw at the very center. I repro'd the buzz with some good bass music and cranking the sub-knob on the t2 to max. The buzzing appeared to eminate from the rigid panel. A slight touch of my finger on the panel during the buzz stopped it.

I tried a (very) slight tightening of the rigid panel's mount screw at the center - about 1/8 of a turn. It did seem a bit loose, and the 1/8 turn did firm up the panel. This seems to be working as I don't hear the buzz anymore.

My question for the support team - is/was this the proper thing to do? It doesn't seem to compromise the bass quality (although it was late enough last night that I haven't been able to fully exercise the t2). Should I take off the panel and put some loctite on the screw to prevent it from loosening up again over time?

thanks,
Brad

Yes, that's the fix. Nicely done.

You can bear down pretty hard on that screw to keep it from loosening up again. We have seen a few of these - apparently the thread lock did not take on that center bolt. If it continues to loosen, some thread lock or super glue on the thread from the inside will be necessary (easily accessed from the rear panel opening if need be). FWIW, on the ones I have seen and were fixed simply by tightening, I have heard no reports of them loosening up again.
