rcos: what was the solution? In case someone else has the same problem.

I don't want to use pliers as it would possibly break the threads on the fitting. It looks like the spikes sent with the speakers are too big.
Mistake at the factory perhaps? The spikes look to be visibly bigger in diameter vs the rubber feet they are replacing and I can't get a single spike screwed into any of the eight fittings. The rubber feet screw in and out perfectly by the way.

I spoke with GE three weeks ago and advised that the spikes may be too big for the fitting, the gentlemen at GE was going to check into it and advise, or mail me a new set. Still waiting, not a big deal as it is a small issue, but would like to set them up properly at some point.

In other news, the speakers are broken in and sound absolutely amazing, very please with my purchase.

Thanks for your followup,

TJ

My Dealer is Great, which is why I have been buying from him for so long

Back to great sound speakers!

That's great, and exactly why we only sell through quality specialty a/v stores - and why it is ALWAYS best to just call the selling dealer for support when anyone has a problem with their speakers. The dealers know we stand ready to support them so they can resolve issues for their GoldenEar customers quickly, when they do occur. It is really impossible for email or telephone (or social media or our website) to resolve product problems. They're great for getting feedback about how to get the most from your GoldenEar speakers, and that's why we support them as information sources.

The brass spikes included with the Triton Ones are fine, they just go in tight the first time, really. I put mine (and about 50 others) in with my fingers, but perhaps I am stronger than you, which is why I suggested a pliers (wrap a cloth around first, of course). Not sure why you did not hear back from the office, but there is nothing to report to you, the spikes work fine. Really. If you can't get them in, call your dealer and have them come out and screw them in for you.

Dealer replaced speaker and will troubleshoot the problem. Nothing wrong with rcos' setup or installation that needed to be solved. (From experience, I can tell you that this kind of thing is always caused by transit vibration/shock, probably a broken solder joint or a crack in a PC board. Perhaps a failed part but not likely given the QC procedures at the factory.)

Re: spikes: Thanks moderator, finally got them all in with pliers, took some doing though.
Not used to having to be so forceful with expensive speakers, so I thought I was doing something wrong originally as the rubber feet easily screw in in 5 seconds with gentle turns.

Bass sounds tighter already, unless it is the power of suggestion !!

Thanks again for your help
